Hi.
First post in here, so forgive if I'm in the wrong sub forum.
About 18 months ago i bought a -69 Charger 383 that's supposed to be matching #.
I haven't checked the numbers until today.
On the transmission it looks as expected, but on the engine it doesn't.
It's an empty space where the third digit should be.
The way the car is placed now it's hard to get to it other than with a mirror, but I managed to put my phone down there and take a picture of it, and then I see that it might look like the third digit, wich is "3" might be stamped over the second digit, wich is "B".
So my question is, is this likely to have happened from the factory, or is it more likely that someone has tried to "make" the engine matching # and messed it up a bit?
Also, the engine is orange, not turquoise. But from what I understand the color is not a dead giveaway...(?)
Thanks.

I say it's factory because if someone were to try to stamp it they would probably make it look good and not stamp one number over the other.

Where is the casting date located?

It's an automatic car, and it has AC. (If it's factory or dealer installed I'm not sure, but I would think it's factory.)

Anyway, the engine has have been painted at some point since it has paint where the vin is stamped.
According to the last owner in the US it has been overhauled, and has since gotten som performance parts, so it's quite certain it has been out of the car.

Long as your last part of vin is 34014 i wouldn't argue with numbers matching at all. Mopar did some weird ****

it looks real to me..
what are the other numbers on the top pad of the engine?
what numbers are on the fender tag?
you can check to see how close those dates are...
