Why do most factory A/C have outside air intake available? Is it to replace stale-smokey air?
I noticed in the installation instructions online, that it appeared to have lines coming through the inner fender. Must be a bulkhead fitment thing? I didn't much care for that because doesn't it get in the way of front end alignment access plate.?...............................MO

It's to equalize the inside vs outside temps to keep the windshield from fogging.

Classic Auto Air sells a replacement center vent but yo still need an AC dash frame and the pot metal piece the vent sits in to attach it to the dash.

I have a 1968 Satellite with factory air , so it should have the pot metal piece you tell of? Can you tell me how to find one of those vents from Classic Auto Air? It doesn't show on their web site. Thanks for your help............MO

My 1970 Charger center vent is just plastic. The replacement from CAA is also plastic but the back side is an oval collar for the hoses to fit on.

I called Vintage Air when I was running my lines. I have 255 tires up front and worried about the travel on full turn, they said I could run the lines inside, so I moved the 4 hoses back over into the engine compartment.

You'll have to call them to see if it can be sold separate from one of their kits. Or, you can just buy the kit with the vents.

Mine has factory air, but the vent you show looks like it should be made to fit my dash....Thank you.........................MO

I went with the classic air on mine with direct fit controls. I must admit, I miss the look of the original A/C push button controls and the blower is LOUD and sucks up power (voltage). I probably need an upgrade to my alternator. That said, I love the smaller box and under the hood looks fine. The system works great and was a simple install.

All of that being said, I was originally going to put in the factory stuff and if your interested, I have a rebuilt box as well as rebuilt controls (restored by performance car graphics) that I don't need and will sell.

Have you tried a heat sink in the power wire to the motor to reduce voltage pull

Just finished install of Classic Air in my 1964 Sport Fury. No one makes a unit that works with factory pushbutton controls - I made my own using an arduino chip. Did not want to push the old fan switch, it now controls relays to switch fan speeds. Unit cools well, but it is a little loud. 34 degrees out of the unit with outside a little over 80. Compressor mount was a problem, tried three different brackets before it would fit!

Does anyone have a close up picture to show what the new controls look like. Not sure I like the idea of losing my push buttons and would like to see what the Classic Air controller looks like.

Oh,.... I don't know that I like that. I mean it would work, but it's quite a bit different. I need to look at the vintage air controller then if it looks closer to original as rebel said.

Classic more help when I called, and the ONLY one I did not have to use addon pot or switch under the dash. I made a small computer board that takes the vacuum stock control and replaces the addon. All stock look and operation. Not possible with Vintage Air. Classic cools very good!!

In my '70, I am using the stock system in the dash, with the upgrade kit under the hood. I did this so that I could keep the stock switch
