Why do most factory A/C have outside air intake available? Is it to replace stale-smokey air?
I noticed in the installation instructions online, that it appeared to have lines coming through the inner fender. Must be a bulkhead fitment thing? I didn't much care for that because doesn't it get in the way of front end alignment access plate.?...............................MO

This is correct, The original purpose of fresh air intake is to get rid of the cigarette smoke from the cab. And from a theory and operation stand point , having outside ambient air entering the cab will put an unnecessary demand on the evaporator to efficiently remove the heat.
