OK, here's my personal favorite. I know it's a year outside our beloved 62-65 window, but it counts as Mopar Muscle for sure
So here the cool part about this pic:
That pic popped up on facebook some weeks back as just another pic of Stahls car. I recognized many things right away and took a printout to my dad for confirmation.
That picture is taken at Keystone Raceway Park in New Alexandria PA. That picture is most likely late 1970. That's my dad driving the car. After Stahl sold it it went through 2 other owners, then my dad bought it in the spring of 70.
Just a few other notes:
Keystone was an NAAR track back then so that D/S designation would not be equivalent to NHRA D/S. That car was always an A/S or B/S in NHRA classes.
I recognized the track and I also recognize the car with the tow bar brackets on the bumper. Funny thing is that those brackets are still laying on the floor of the shop used as wheel chocks.
I have (and have posted) a few other pics of the car from when he owned it, but this is the only one I've seen with him driving it.

It Was Richard's Only Venture Into Drag Racing...And It Happened Because Nascar Banned The Hemi Engine From Competition Because "it blew everything else off the racetrack." Ronnie Householder, Head Of Chrysler Racing At The Time, Told Bill France, Sr. "To Stick It In His Ear." He Parked All The Plymouths And Dodges For The Year And The Only Thing Running Were The Fords And A Few GM Products. While Sitting Out The Boycott, Petty Enterprises Built 43 Jr. Barracuda Funny Car And You Are Quite Correct With Your Facts, It Was A Disaster! Following Year, Nascar Caved In And Let Chrysler Run The Hemi And Ford Run The "Shotgun" Blue Crescent Side Oiler Ford Motors! Then GM Bitched!
This is the first time i heard of that accident, They should have never banned the Hemi, thats what its all about, you bring your best to the track, if the others cant keep up to the Hemi, in this case, then its there problem, one of the reasons i watch very little Nascar now, its all generic, all the same what ever happened to real "whats ya got in that" keeping up? It must have been real cool talking with the king!! Thanks for sharing it, cool information shared here guys! Thanks...
