Vintage Mopar Muscle

A great read is "WE WERE THE RAMCHARGERS" the book by Dave Rockwell.

I bought the book about 2 years ago and I love it. A great read for any Mopar muscle car lover. This is a great thread ! Ron

Great pics!

Did you know that "The High and Mighty" (last pic) was the Ramcharger's very first car! The Ramchargers team being some of Chrysler Corporation's engineering department! Think about that...

here’s a little more on Mighty....

The other picture is my 1963 car converted to an altered wheel base 1965 car.
The other picture is of the same 1963 car converted to an altered wheel base car but after further modifications of a tube front axle, all aluminum interior and the Max Wedge set back 26" and running on Hilborns with Nitromethane.
I ran this car during 1963-64-65-66-67 and 68.

These old race cars is exactly the type of thing I want to copy with my 63! I am not trying to make the car into something that it isn't nor ever was but rather something it could have been! I only wish I could have seen these cars in their hayday

I raced my 1963 Max Wedge Plymouth at the NHRA Indianapolis Nationals in 1965. My car was classified as AA/SA in 1965 and I had the pleasure and memories of lining up right beside all these legends in the staging lane time trials.

Little trivia......
Mr. 427 Comet…Mr. Ronnie Sox and Buddy Martin.

Sox and Martin left Mercury for Plymouth when Mercury would only give them one car for personal use, not give them each a personal car, Plymouth was courting them but they wanted to stay with Mercury, but when this happened they ask Chrysler if both of them would get personal car, Chrysler said yes … the rest is history. We all know what success they had with Plymouths.

FYI, their red, white and blue colors on the Plymouth were actually Ford colors because their later Mercury’s were red white and blue they kept the same colors.

For many years there Hemi engines were painted Ford blue because their engine man/crew chief Jake King was a Ford man.

The Late Dave Strickler And The "Old Reliable Dodge"..Tuned By Bill Stiles!

Dave Strickler once said: "I agree with Dick Landy--driving one of these altered wheelbase cars is like driving a coffin." As many of you know, Dave Strickler died while mowing his lawn. So sad--one of the greatest drivers of Mopars.
