Want to watch a western - suggestions pleease

We haven't seen much to watch as the evenings are longer now, so we're watching the "Hell on Wheels" series again. We've forgotten most if it, so it's a good choice for us...

Any new Westerns in the last few years?

I can tell you one of the best I’ve ever seen - and I love westerns. Both lead up series to series Yellowstone w/Cosner. There’s two of them but the best is the oem that should be watched first - “1883”. About a 10 part series starring Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill w/other great supporting cast members (particularly the stunningly beautiful blonde young lady that plays their daughter as well as narrating each episode in a very tasteful way). This series takes them from the east to Kansas then by wagon train onward to their objective - Oregon. It maybe the best depiction of its kind I’ve ever seen. From a Westerns lover - Take my word for it - Fantistic! Then third are the continuation series ”1923” with Harrison Ford, Hellen Mirren amongst another great supporting cast. After those (but actually filmed ad shown before is - “Yellowstone” 5 seasons with Costner’s role etc. They’re making it even better with planned series “1944” and “2024” to bring the whole production from 1883 all the way current to 2024. Apparently Mathew McConaughey will show up in one of these two additional planned segments.

For Westerns lovers perspective this is some of the best sequential, realistic western programming you’ll ever see. I’m not saying it’s better than one of your favorite western films - I am saying it’s taking you from right after the civil war up to current times with production of the “real deal“ to current times. This is great stuff and it is a realistic as they come. New episodes of the final season of “Yellowstone“ are expected to start showing 1/1/24. After that I assume 1944 and then 2024 will hit the small screen. This has all been televised on Paramount+. You can get started with streaming the already done - in order 1883, 1923 and then the 4/5 seasons of Yellowstone already waiting for you on Paramount+.

My children are studying Fredrick Remington paintings and they want to watch some Westerns because of that.

My 17 yr old girls have already seen:

The Cowboys

The Unforgiven

The Searchers

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre

I'm gonna show them Lonesome Dove (been saving that for a long time!) and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (they loved Hud btw).. suggestions please. I want to share some classics they will enjoy and hopefully spark their interest in the genre. Already thinking of Red River, Rooster Cogburn, and True Grit, The Shootist, and the Clint Eastwood Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and Hang Em' High movies.

I know today is the time of the strong independent female but someone needed to smack some sense into that beautiful blonde girl in 1883.

Some things they did do a good job with. Like my dad told me. In the cowboy day just crossing a river was a huge ordeal that we don't even think about now. If you go exploring you can still see evidence of the fords they used.

It's a tv series. There's also a movie but that should be watched last since it comes after the series. Don't watch if you're offended by swearing, a little nudity, and some adult themed (not ****) content.
