We needed a new fry pan a few years back so I bought my wife a really nice Cuisinart stainless one for Christmas. She unwrapped the present, saw the box and was as "thrilled" as one might expect - "Oh boy. You got me a fry pan." she deadpanned.

I explained that it was a really nice fry pan and she should take it out of the box to get a better look at it. It took a minute or 2 to convince her to do that, but when she finally did she found a small, wrapped box inside the pan which held a piece of jewelry she wanted and her mood changed instantly lol.

Not the 1st time I've pulled this trick with her so you'd think she'd know better after 40+ years together. She on the other hand often gets me things I neither need nor really want. I just chalk it up to it's the thought that really counts.
