NEVER put oil on your BRAKES ! The brake pads and shoes need friction to operate properly. Oil, grease or any type of lubricant is a terrible idea.

I built my 383/432 Stroker this winter

Comp Cams XE275 HL

Comp Cams 10w30w Break In Oil

I think the key is , proper cam assembly lube on the cam lobes and bottom of lifters , also I made sure the lifters rotated properly in block bores and priming the oil pump/block and valvetrain before initial fire up

Two WIX oil filters cut open so far this summer at work and I cut out the paper media , my A@P Mechanics have told me perfection
Just beautiful

Running Valvoline VR1 Racing Oil / Silver Bottles

Brad penn here for 30 WT. break in oil and then brad penn multi viscosity from there.

We used to group buy Brad penn at 52 bucks a case or so. When they restructured / sold / added another middle man, the case price jumped 15 bucks or so.

Personally for engine break-in I use (Joe Gibbs) Driven BR Oil with good results. But as others have posted there are other good choices.

I use Valvoline VR1 racing oil made for no catalytic converter flat tappet cam motors and added a bottle of Lucas Break In oil treatment for breaking in the 16 new hydraulic lifters I got from Comp Cams.
Other than that I use VR1 in my 440. My wife's 421 TriPower has hydraulic roller lifters now so I switched to regular Valvoline for her motor. Soon I will go to a 100% synthetic oil for her motor.

Royal Purple makes a good engine break in oil as well. A little easier to find around here than the driven/gibbs or penn grade. $9/qt
