What are the differences between the 68 and 69 Superbee?

I find the 68 R/T to be the most attractive of the hard tops.
And the 69 veRT to be the most attractive 69.
Now as far as options go......

I like both as well. I do prefer the 69 R/T's the differences are many but subtle differences.

My personal preference is the RT in 68 and the Bee in 69. JMHO

Does anybody know the production numbers for 68 Bee's?

I'm in love.....

2933 383 4spd. 4783 383 auto. 31 Hemi 4spd. 94 Hemi auto. 3 Hemi Canada.
Just curious about the 3 Hemi- Canada Bees. Were they neither 4sp nor auto?

Or were the transmissions were similar to this:

One thing i've encountered in my 68 net resto is, there are more repop parts a available for 69 than 68.

Ok, waking up this thread. The original owner of a 68 Super Bee I have been interested in and I have spoken directly now. He has not said "no" to selling it. He has agreed to allow a friend of mine and a former co-worker of his to come take a look and get some pictures. Then we will talk again. It is a silver car with white interior. He told me that the odometer is showing about 65,000 original miles, but he says it is much less (in the low 50's) because he left the 3:23 speedo gear in the trans when he changed the rear end to 4:88 while he was racing it. He saved his money while he was in Vietnam and bought the car when he got home and was working at the Dodge dealership. He told me that he actually backed this car off the transport truck loaded with a new car delivery. It is a 383 with 335 hp, automatic on the column and a 3:23 open rear end. It currently has a 3:91 in it. He cannot remember the last time it ran, and he moved it out of his garage to a carport several years ago. At some point the car was stolen and the bumpers and wheels were removed. The car was recovered (not sure how long after being stolen) and the owner said the car was repainted a Corvette silver (not sure why it was painted, probably due to damage when it was stolen) over the original metallic silver. He said it has Cragars on it now, but he still has the original wheels as well as the Super Bee emblems and a new set of exhaust tips. He thinks he has saved the original documents (sale papers and window sticker). I know this is not the holy grail of a Hemi 4 speed car, but it is something I would be happy to have. He mentioned that at the time he could have had the Hemi and 4 speed for another $600, but he did not have it. Anyhow, the deal is not done yet, I will update you all after my friend has gone by, and I will hopefully have pics to share. I am pretty sure there cannot be too many one owner 68 Super Bee's out there. At this point in my life, I would be happy to have a column shift automatic with an open rear end. I sure hope this works out!!! Oh yeah, he said something about sedan doors and push out back seat windows, he says it is a very early car.....anyone know the deal on the sedan doors????

All of the 68 Super Bees were two door sedans or coupes, depending upon your terminology for these cars. By this definition, there is the metal post between the door glass and the quarter glass. The quarter glass swung out and did not roll up and down as the hardtops did.

These cars were a marketing tool for Dodge in response to the 68 Road Runner and were introduced as a mid year roll out. The 68 Super Bees are much more difficult to locate vs a 68 Road Runner. Hopefully the fender tag is still with the car and it will give you a better ideal on what the car is and how it was equipped.

Good luck on getting the car, it would be a neat car to have.

Push out rear windows just means it is a coupe with a post for the b pillar. All 68 Bees came that way.

Thanks for the info! I was just reading some info I found on the web which says the same thing you have mentioned. Hopefully I will have a pic of the fender tag soon which I will share on this thread.

Good luck Bart, sounds very interesting. As far as I can remember, there were no ‘open’ rear-ends on a Bee, could be wrong but as a 1 owner, I’ll disagree with that. Bought mine before going in the service. Jeff

Thanks for the info, it is helping me understand the differences between the 68 and 69 Super Bee's. It seems there are many differences in just the one year!!!

I am just going by what the owner told me, but it would be ok with me if he were wrong and it was a 3:23 sure grip!!! I cannot wait to get some pics, especially of the fender tag!

I have a good Mopar buddy named Carl, who worked on my 69 more door Coronet. He said that according to the description I gave him which is what I wrote above, he is not sure the car is worth even $10k. I know everyone hates the threads about what a car should be worth, but what the hell....what do you guys think about this 68 Super Bee that is a one owner, but will probably require a fair amount of attention???? I understand that the owner turned down $17k at some point in the past. I told Carl that I would like to wait for pics and my local buddy where the car is to go have a look, then make a decision.

Can we see a few pictures?
Hard to guess otherwise, but your friend is probably correct.
