What did you do to your Mopar today?

I have a couple NOS ones in my Dad's basement. My uncle was the guy who painted the originals, before the finished image. They gave him a half-dozen finished ones from the original batch. Those look nice.

Hold onto them :)

The main reason I made my own was because I couldn't afford the insane price of originals :sad11:

And that one guy that was selling knock offs priced them way beyond my budget :sad1:

Let's see, what did I do on the cars today...

1) Did some speaker wiring on the Coronet. I plan to finish that project tomorrow.

2) Looked at a '68 D200 parts truck with a friend.

3) Started one of my '68 D100 trucks this afternoon, for the first time in five months. Guess I need to install a new accelerator pump! Took forever to get started.

4) Worked on the Ford Diesel tractor. Had to purge the air from the injector lines, then it fire right up. Now, I have a hydraulic leak at the line where it goes into the steering ram, as the hard line has a crack in it. Get to replace both ps lines next. Oh, fun.

Over the weekend, replaced the stock trans pan with a mopar deep stamped steel one, replaced the filter and installed supplied spacer for the pickup. Followed another members recommendation on sealing it up nice and tight with a couple rounds of Black RTV. Will fill it tonight, fire it up and see if it leaks. Fingers crossed!

Blasting and priming engine compartment.

Lessons learned so far-

1- yes all that crap I thought was maybe not going to have to come off IS going to have to come off.

2- gonna have to do it all at the same time.

3- get ALL the sand out before spraying any paint.

It does look better though, and will be worth it.

Delicious new freeze plugs.

Starting to look like an engine again...at least it's right side up.

I always put the freeze plugs in after the engine is painted! Always looks much nicer, but probably not factory original!

I am going thru my car with a fine tooth comb before I deem it track worthy and I found a loose lug stud. Appears the previous owner decided to weld a undersized stud into place and not doing the work correctly. I went ahead and ordered all new 3" studs .685 knurl and the corresponding drill bit. Why do something half assed as that. I understand hitting them as insurance with a weld. They were using studs with knurls that was much too small. I bought over sized ones and I hope to do it correctly.

Its amazing what some hackers deem acceptable!

Decided while the Booster and Proporsion valve are out I would paint the areas behind them.

Today I fixed a couple of small rust holes above the wheel well and put the chrome molding and wheel lip molding back on. The track closed here in San Antonio so I'm getting her ready for some local cruz nites.
It's already dark but I took some pictures anyway, excited to see her back together again. Thanks FBBO.

Still blasting and still priming.

Looks like me and Coronet14 are doing a lot of the same stuff.

I can't imagine doing that with sandpaper/wire brush.

C14- your paint is a good match, did you get it photo-matched?

I'm going to a local store that does that tomorrow, but last time I was there I didn't see the kid that was dead on matching three times previous...

I get my paint from Paint Scratch. When I look at all the Y4 paint chips they do look gold. Hence the Factory calling it Gold. But on the car I swear it's a yellowish Gold. All GY4 cars I've seen look like Yellow with Gold tint. Maybe It's my eyes. I still like the color though

I think I had a parts car that color.

Chip chart looks NOTHING like the real color.

I had that color photo-matched at the sop I mentioned, and he was dead on.

I also like that color. kind of mustard meets maintenance yellow. Would have been great with matte black tape stuff.

Never used the pint of paint. If we ever run into each other (predetermined, that is), it's yours.

I'm hoping that next year I can have my 318 made into a stroker 392. If I can find a good machine shop. then I will do the whole engine compartment. I'm just trying to get the rust from around and behind the parts I take off now Then when I have the engine out just cover up some stuff and paint away.
