I agreed to swap a front axle in my son's Jeep Patriot only to find the axle splines rust seized into the hub. It just laughed at the sledge hammer. I put it back together, saturated with penetrant, and took another shot at it after a week. I was finally able to press the end of the axle out of the hub using a brake drum puller. After getting the axle out, I pulled the new one out of the box and it was, of course, wrong. So, I took it back to Advance Auto Parts. No matter what variation of 2014 Patriot 4WD they pulled up on their system, the axle that came up was the on I had just returned. So, off to NAPA where the counterman told me that they didn't even have a listing for a RF axle for a 2014 4WD Patriot. Since it was on the way home, I stopped at Autozone where the girl pulled it up on the computer and it showed the same axle I had just returned to Advance. Looking down the listings, I saw one that looked like the one I had pulled out. So, it should be in today.
I checked out Steve White parts online. None of the axles they show for a '14 Patriot 4WD are correct. So, I cleaned the grease off the old axle and found a part sticker showing P52123873AA. 52123873AA shows up as superceded by 52123873AC. When I search on that number at Steve White parts, it shows up as for a '16 and '17 Patriot Sport. So, I guess if the dealer listings don't show the correct axle, it's not surprising that Advance can't find the correct axle.
