With my Viper T56 installed it's time to look into the driveshaft, the Viper slip yoke is already pretty massive but I'm looking to add some insurance on the other end. What do you think of this one, it's forged steel, takes a 1350 universal and I would think the U bolts would be a better setup? Oh yeah, I'm running an 8 3/4" rear.

It is only as strong as Pinion and Housing is fair on 8 3/4. A Dana 60 would greatly improve reliability.

I'm sure it would but I'm going to abuse this 8 3/4" for now, if I break it which I don't think I will then I'll be looking to upgrade it as well. I'm running nothing but street tires so I'll lite them up before I hurt something (I hope).

8 3/4 will handle just about anything you put to it, when you start putting massive horsepower and slicks at the drag strip then you might need to thin about upgrades and if i was i wouldnt be using a standard dana 60, i would get a custom strange S60 or something like that

Good to know, there's one on Ebay for $80.00 (free shipping) right now that I may just snag up.

Looks just like the one on my 8-3/4 with an Eaton TrueTrac

Go for it Devin! You need it!

Make sure you get the correct number of splines for your pinion.

Already checked it (10 splines). Thanks

how good are the true tracs, got on in my 8 3/4 but mines a 489 case, used to be a spinner 741

I like my true track so far. Still breaking it in, and I'm not putting massive up to it either, but its solid when I stand on it!

I'd rather break a u-joint than a differential

You may have a point but I'd rather break what's going to break and be done with it instead of intentionally leaving a weak link because I don't baby it at all. If I break the 8 3/4" I'll hang it on the wall and start hunting for a Dana.

Waiting on that damn Ford scoop to sell so I can order it. Funds are low because we dropped a load and paid off our house! :pink banana: Your not going to hear me complain, no car payments and the house payment is gone forever................ Life is good.

Congrats man!! Getting the house paid off this early in life is pretty much unheard of these days! That's awesome news!

I'm sure that Ford scoop won't take long to sell

I run one of those on my street car. Works very well. so far it and the 8 3/4 have survived numerous passes with slicks, 11.0@3890lbs. That being said my sons Turbo car with a brake and my wife's mid 12 second Challenger 4 speed made quick work of 8 3/4's. I'm sure the yoke will out last the gear.
