I'm curious what you guys do for theft deterrent. I guess you could say I'm a bit paranoid, but for good reason as these are pretty easy cars to steal. Most stolen here in Texas go south of the border. I have an Earl's fuel line shut off valve, battery disconnect hidden in the wheel well, and an NRG quick disconnect steering wheel with a quick lock hub. The removable steering wheel is way cool! All are kind of a pain as they require reaching into the wheel well or pulling off the steering wheel (not a lot of work). I plan adding a hidden toggle switch to the negative relay I have wired to my coil, so it wouldn't start when not grounded through the switch. This way I would have only one wire going to the switch, the other toggle terminal grounded under the dash. Is this a bad idea? Any better ideas on this? I'm so done with alarms.

You probably have twice what anyone else on here has for theft. I'm paranoid too but only have the kill switch and use the club. Dead bolt my garage door every night as they'll come right to your house if they want the car. Other than that I have up to date adequate insurance coverage. I don't think there's much more to be done that what you've employed.

Deterents only keep an honest man honest...but I have an inertia switch for the electric fuel pump, all I do is thump it and it opens the circuit and does not allow it to run...

I've got a keyed master battery disconnect switch in my trunk with the battery and switch both hidden out of site.

Get a roll of plug wire put an end on the motor side run the other in your seat! When you leave the car switch your plug wire s out. One jolt and they will book it

Park smart. Insurance. Tow will take it if wanted bad enough.

No way I built that car I'll kill the dude that stole it and get it back

What is the problem with alarms? There are some nice alarms out there, but they are not cheap, and the wiring and packaging can be a problem if running backup battery, and several sensors.

I read where the best deterrent is a straight drive, because most of the kids these days don't have a clue how to drive them ! ! ! LMAO . . .

Can you imagine that . . . they get in the car and wonder "why" there are 3 pedals on the floor ? ?
Better yet, the kids at my office thought I had an automatic in my 66 Chevy ShoeBox because the shifter was on the tree - they'd never seen a 3 on the tree . . . . Oh are they missing out ! ! !

I always liked the James Bond 007 theft deterrent, (I forget which movie). The little sticker in the window warned the would be thief that the vehicle had an "ANTI-THEFT DETERRENT". The bad guy still tried to open the door. When he did, the car blew up killing him. The only down side is that your car blows up too.

Hook up a fence line electric shock device with the skin of the car as the ground. Touch the car, get shocked. Or, hook up a Tazer with the trigger wired to activate when the car is touched. Metal conducts and they will be found unconscious on yer garage floor.

We don't cotton to much car stealing out here in God's country.
Damn near a mob mentality in the rare instance that it happens.
I moved up here on the side of the ridge 20 years ago after a life spent in urban settings. Folks have to make a deliberate effort to get up here; there are very few accidental/"lost" visitors.
First thing a straggler typically sees upon cresting the first clearing along my quarter mile long road is all the practice targets across my field; that's usually a clue for them. :)
I know the sheriff and although he knows I'm a good citizen, he's warned more than one of his deputies to call me first if they have to come up here.
I think he does that as a running gag when we run across each other. :)
Young deputy eyeballs my mangy old carcass, scoffs, says something like "what is he, some sort of badass?"
Sheriff says "no, but he owns more weapons than we do".

I like it like this. Notoriety keeps the idiots at bay, pretty much. :)

I always had a hidden kill switch, but haven't bothered since I left Chicago in '76.

I use this....

The cop one is hilarious!

Actually I use a negative cut off switch and I'm in the process of re wiring the entire car..with the Ron Francis kit, the neutral safety switch will not go unless in place so...I've put in a toggle switch between the neutral safety. If off, it won't start and that switch is hidden in the console. Something a little different..
