What do you think of these ratio's (Viper tranny)

I have a 04 Dodge Viper 550 HP motor with the Tremec 6 speed. (still have it) 2013-07-07 08.51.35.jpg2012-07-28 11.01.47.jpg I run a 3.55 dana. I had a 2.73 and the stock 3.07 also. the 2.73 was a terror but called for 5th gear near the end of the 1/4 mile. The 3.07 was just to difficult to manage in any kind of traffic. The 3.55 was the best overall performing going thru the trap at 125 mph 11.55 at the top of 4th.

Thanks for posting that info, I've been wondering about what gear to go with and have 3.55s in it right now. I imagine my Charger is quite a bit heavier than your Viper so I may still want to change it out for 3.91s or 4.10s.

Nice looking Viper too!

Actually the Viper is not as light as you would think 3410lbs

Wow.....I would have never guessed. I actually did some repairs to a buddies Viper front frame and would have sworn it was a fairly light car but that makes me feel better. I'll just leave the 3.55 alone and see how it does.

hey 747...you can send me those 3.55's...I'll run them for you :)

I am running 2.94's behind my NV3500 5 speed and need more gear too...though 1st gear is going to be relinquished to stump puller mode.

A lot of good info going on here, I'm taking notes! Haha

Can't wait to see the install Dev, I'm holding out for almost the same setup, hoping a viper t56/ mcleod twin disc will hold up well behind the procharged 440/ my heavy foot. Is the viper salvage yard you mentioned X2 Builders by any chance? If so, buy at your own risk with those guys as there's a lot of mixed reviews about them around the web

Not X2 builders Speedy I ended up buying one at the same time as Devin which saved us on some shipping costs. This place still has a few and pretty reasonably priced when you're in the market! Now you're really starting to tip me in favor of clutch selection as the McLeod twin disc is down to one of my final choices. (the other is a Proformance that Benno recommended)

Check your PM and I'll send you the link to the spot. Clear some room in your inbox!

Just to add to what Goon said, we're sourcing ours from a salvage yard that specializes in Vipers so your just buying a used tranny but most are low mileage. Mine for instance is a 17,000 mile 04 for $1,500 including the slip yoke and throw out bearing setup where Goons was $1,600 for a 06. From my searching those are good prices (I see $2,500+ all the time on Ebay) and not trannies that some shop is trying to get rich off of, just used trannies.

Nice! Yeah if you guys could hook me up with the contact info that'd be awesome, that's definitely a reasonable price compared to what's on ebay like you said, and even on craigslist $1,200 is the cheapest I've seen. And a little mileage don't scare me lol where abouts are they located? Shipping is probably gonna suck to Oregon but getting my man-pedal back would be worth it lol

And yeah goon if Benno's having good luck I'm sure that'd be another good option, I was just planning on the Mcleod twin disc cause that's what my other friend Mike is running between the 833 and 800 hp 540 hemi in his Roadrunner and he swears by em
