I had to try them on for size and from the looks of it they seem to fit great. These are a set of 15x6 mags with Duralon Premium tires that were "take offs" from a 1963 Fairlane back in 1964 and stored in a garage in Nebraska until a few years ago. And when I say mags I mean magnesium! And the tires are almost perfect with no cracks and plenty of tread. This doesn't mean I will be driving them down the freeway at 80 MPH but for a slow cruise into town and reeking of patina I could easily play it off as a barn find HEMI car

Looking through the oxidation I can see the wheels are nearly perfect as well with no pitting or curb rash. Probably the best set of original mag wheels I have ever seen. I must have passed by them four times at the swap meet until it finally hit me that they will make the perfect day two wheel for the yellow HEMI Bel build so I took them home. Ultimately I will put on a set of blue lines or red lines as the white walls don't quite do it for me but it's sure neat to see a set in like new condition.

Hey clean them up and they will look great!!!
Petty Blue 67 gTx

Cool! Yup, never did like white walls either....

I do like the wheel style, sorry not a big fan of white walls on muscle cars, either...

Look great Meep, i never cared for the white walls myself, they should clean up great..

Looks fantastic!! The white walls make it the ultimate sleeper.... I guess I'm the only one who likes them WW tires.......

For me these old cars are all about what they looked like back in the day.

Nobody would have run white walls with a custom wheel. In fact, if you had white walls you would turn them inside out with custom wheels so the black walls showed.

White walls were for your parents 4 door with wheel covers, NOT for a performance car.

The wheels look great but the white walls ruin it.

It is NOT a sleeper look, it is a contridiction. A sleeper would be white walls with wheel covers or a car with steel wheels and hub caps.

Looks great! Lets see some more pics of the car! I agree about the white walls being out of character but its still cool. A set of polyglass white letters out would be awesome!

Thanks for the comments guys. I agree the WW are for dad's Buick but I'm just trippin' on how good those tires are. I'd like to drive them into a tire store and ask the sales guy to look at my car because it has a little shake above 80 MPH. And video their reaction

I couldn't agree more. Mags and an old Sun tach on the steering column.

Now just curious, were these wheels available new in 66 or did they already switch over to aluminum?

Dude! I think you nailed it :headbang:

Coker Tire has some cool vintage looking, but new style tires...

If the guy at the tire store is one of the real young bucks, Id love to see the video as you try to explain to him why they don't look like the tires he normally sells! :) They must be some good tires to hold up as good as they look.

Meep- if you pull this one off I want a copy of the video. Ought to be frickin' hysterical!!! Sweet score on the wheels-they just flat "fit" the Bel!!

They were still using Magnezium in Halibrand wheels in 66, some engine components too, valve covers, gear drive front covers, blower cases, etc. I had a few of those parts on my nostalgia 23T alterd... I think the wheels were 68 vintage if I remember correctly...

I love the look of the wheels on the 66' - albeit not with the WW tires... I guess the delema would be whether to have the wheels painted or leave them looking... aged..?

Very likely that they will clean up like new with something like Simple Green.
