What Engine Should I Put Into My Belvedere?

My first question is do you plan to build the eng or buy one already done ? There are alot of ways to go but if your building one consider the 440 or 400 stroker. Its not much more money at all to get the stroker kit and it will help some. It also makes the cam sound milder in a stroker. This is my eng as I want the Max Wedge look but I love how great it drives with the single 850 DP so for now I use this set up. I used Indy EZ heads but you can use the 440Source Stealth heads for a good price. I went with the EZ heads because they have more potential if I want to step it up some more down the road. I used dished pistons with quench for 10.6 comp and it runs on 92 pump. I also use a solid flat tappet cam but its a bit bigger then yours as I wanted to make about 600 hp. My 63 is a driver I drive all the time and I went with the 4.15 stroke crank and 440 block thats a 493 at .030 over. It has run 10.70's with only 7 passes on it so far. But you could build a milder 440 or 400 stroker and have an easy 12 or 11 second car without getting to serious. Course I save a ton of money as I build my own engines. Good luck , Ron

I think the key to a good sleeper today is keeping it quiet. skinny tires and quiet. Trying to keep a big block quiet is tough. 383man's car is the ultimate sleeper. No, it does not have 14 inch wheels with hubcaps and the exhaust is not that quiet, but if you didnt know, would you think that car would go 10's by just looking at it. Single 4 barrel on an otherwise stock looking motor in a basically stock looking car. A true masterpiece of mopar sleeper magic.

I think anybody that knows what a real motor sounds like could guess Ron's car is a ten second beast. lol

How about this for a 1500 buck sleeper? 406hp, 408ftlbs torque

Ron its nice to see those numbers coming from your combo. Same stroke and similar c/r to mine but I calculated mine to be 10.5 to 1 with o deck flattops and ezs. With a healthy solid roller and big Dominator I should make similar numbers I hope. Is that a max wedge intake? I,m using a port matched m1.

Thanks so much for all the kinds words all. Actually I have 3" exh out to the rear bumper with the X-pipe and Ultra-Flow mufflers but it is not real noisey. I like the sound of a closed full exh where you can really hear the cam and the soild lifters. Most hotrods are louder then mine when I go to car shows or the track but many of the older guys tell me it sounds sneaky fast. I have this vid of it starting and mostly idleing as I pull away. I barks pretty good when I really lay into and I can listen to my radio while cruisen and really hear it. Thanks again , Ron
