What HP will a 23 spline take?

hello all 4-speed lovers,

I'm gonna fit a 23 spline behind my stroker 402 Poly.

How much HP and or torque will a 23 spliner take?

ps 11 inch clutch and flywheel for a 66 car.

I’m running a 23 spline in my charger.
I m at around 400-425 HP, but I do launch it pretty hard with slicks.

It is faceplated, but they’re the factory gears, and I don’t think face plating ads any strength.

I’ve broken the driveshaft and 8-3/4 but not the trans.

I twisted the pinion off once on my mark Williams Dana 60 and never hurt my 23 spline 4 spd.
I’m probably around 600hp with the blower in a 70 RR.

My Challenger still has its original 23 spline 833. Car has been as quick as 12.50@110@3750#. Has over 100 passes on slicks. Years of street driving.

I ran 23 spline 4 speeds in everything from 340's up to 440 6 packs on the street and strip for years back in my racing days and never damaged one.

So the 402ci set-up should be fine and maybe the 8 3/4 will let go first.

Gonna run a 528ci hemi in my Duster with a 23 spline A-body box, wonder how long that will last???
