What is going on in my trans???

So I just finished getting my car all fixed up to hit the road after her 25ish year slumber. I put brand new trans fluid in and an new external trans cooler. As well new hoses. Today is the second day I've been driving it and then all the sudden it doesn't wanna move. It slipped bad but I got it off the road. Before it had no leaks. It started leaking pretty good out of the front of the trans and the fluid doesn't smell burnt. I had a friend tow it to my house and now it drives like nothing happened do I have a bad pump or a converter maybe front seal? I don't think it's time to just pull it and totally change it out. I think it's an easy fix. Hopfully...

Front seal probably, mine did the same thing yrs ago. Grabbed on to tc snout & probably ripped the seal loose.

Well if I pull the trans I would like to have the peace of mind and get a built trans and put another motor in the car that makes more power. How ever If the seal went bad and that's all I may just drive it like it is i don't know I'm torn.

Crap.....maybe just dump some seal swell in there (trans stop leak), find another trans & rebuild it how you like? That way, the car won't be down for very long & you'll be ready for the faster motor when you get to it? IMO, it would suck to have the car down again for more than a week since you just got it back on the road.

As mentioned above; Cheap way out first. With several types of leaks, power steering gear, oil pan gasket, trans pan, I have used a product called Seal Lube. It is sold at Napa stores. I have seen it stop a badly leaking power steering gear in 30 seconds, for good. The product does NOT change the viscosity of what ever you add it to and I think there might be different types of it. It costs about $10 a bottle and I think it's guaranteed to work or your money back, maybe not. If I remember, you just leave it in there and no need to change fluid.

When I filled the trans fluid I put an entire bottle of lucas trans fix in it and it had 0 problems untill now. I'm going to pull it and see the state of the front seal and go from there thanks again

So before I yank my trans out is there a posibitly I could blow the metal lines out and put a new filter in it and see if continues having problems to avoid pulling the trans???

You've already put seal sweller
do it if you like but do not count on it helping
why do you think you have a problem with the lines?
put a bucket under the return line at the back of the trans with a piece of rubber hose on it
at idle you should get a quart in 20 seconds
if not cooler is plugged
should come out clean
have you had the pan off recently?
how did the filter look and how much crap in the pan
check it with a magnet for iron/steel and eyeball for brass from thrusts

I had the cooler completely unhooked and nothing came out I figured it was empty it took 6qts altogether. But it only slipped when it leaked its odd because now it has no problems but I for sure don't trust it

adjust your bands while you have the pan off

When it happend the fluid still smelled new I'll pull the pain and let you guys know of my findings thanks for all the help

You go to sleep & don't move for 25 years & see what doesn't work when you wake up.
