Guys, original engine/trans was missing from my 68 when purchased and am putting a 67 dated engine together. In the listing for a 68 convertible here, I noticed the oil pan was stamped 402. Is that OEM correct and are there any other number pans that will work with no problems, thanks

Thanks guys, the 6 quart pan seems to be the best bang for the buck in the repo line, but I don't see me needing the two extra quarts. But I DO for sure like a "thick gauge" pan as possible. I do have several 187 pans in good shape, is it possible or practical to add some baffles to one of those pans.

You can certainly add baffles... As far as not needing two extra quarts, you must not use your engine very hard... Cause if you do you want extra oil to make sure there's something for the pump to pump....

You are correct R/T, I tore up my share of motors in the days of my youth and those days are long gone. Im at the point of my time left on the planet to get as many of my projects completed and in the hands of the next generation of caretakers. It's up to us old farts to leave some wonderful toys for the fewer and fewer that might want to play. Git em done.

I'm getting older (66), but I haven't grown up yet... I had my 340 bouncing off the 6500 rev limiter a couple times earlier today....

Man I wish more people thought like you. Seems like most old Mopar guys are content to run up the prices and take the cars with them to their graves. I might be younger than you (or not), but my three adult daughters have already let me know that they don’t want my projects, no matter how cool I think they are. At least that lets me know that I have to finish them for me.
