Our IT department (where I'm a project manager) can get really busy if we have big projects.
Sometimes we hire temps to help out.
A few years ago, we asked to be approved to hire a temp, as we were in desperate need of moderately skilled help, and got the approval.
During the interview process we stressed that we needed someone that could start immediately and that work would be fast paced and could involve some overtime.
We hired a girl that claimed to have help desk experience and claimed to be excited about starting.
One day into the job, she informs us that she is pregnant, can't come in for the rest of the week, and requests "leave".
??? a temp ???
Unfortunately, since we filled the requested position, we couldn't ask for another, and were stuck without help during a critical time.
Apparently this person just wanted to "get a foot in the door".
We couldn't wait until her probation period was over, to give her the bad news.
Did she really think she was making a good impression on us by screwing us like that?
