What 'things' chaps your butt!?

way, way too many fakes
enough already

69 Charger DOH general lee reflection.jpg

Armadillos in my yard.
Traffic signals that don't stay green long enough.
BFG radial tires (the belts).
10 mm sockets.
Oh man, a section of Beltway 8 is closed (loop around the loop) for major repairs to the road way and the light at the intersection of 45 feeder road stayed green for about 6 seconds. Had to wait for that bastard about 10 times and took me about 50 minutes to get to a buddies house that usually takes 20 minutes.

Well, I wasn’t going to tell my troubles, but damnit, my butt is chafed.
Exactly a year ago my small town was devastated by a flood. The biggest in territory history. Over 400 homes damaged or destroyed in a town of 3500 people. The damage may take a decade to repair.
Last week a forest fire went from zero to evacuating my community in a day. Destroyed a bunch of buildings and my ENTIRE town is evacuated, second time in a year. Now we aren’t like y’all: there is nowhere to evacuate to. Wife and I evacuated via a five hour drive to the nearest city. We are sleeping at a friends place. Thousands of others are sleeping in hockey rinks, campers, some in their cars. Here’s the part in that cheeses my danish:
because wife and I work we pay out of pocket. Those with jobs staying in hotels pay their own way. The gas to drive here was well over $100. This is the Arctic. Cheapest hotel is $160, most are over $200 per night. It been five days now, gonna be a while yet and my town can still burn to the ground.
We get ZERO government or other assistance. Those that are on income support or welfare get $1000 per person. Those are people without jobs, mortgages, or payments of any kind. They get $1000 each to spend on booze and crack, and they are. I get nothing. That chafes me.

Thank you. The flood was bad last year, now this. This is bad but we are just two of thousands in the same situation and even though I bitch about not getting government help we are fortunate that wife and I make real money and put some aside for days like this. It sucks to dip into savings but at least we have some. We have friends sleeping in their cars for a week. You’re a fellow animal fancier so you will get this: we evacuated with our three cats, rescued FIVE on the way out of town and had one more dropped off today. I had eight cats in my Jeep, leaving town at midnight. Sounded like the apocalypse.

Wish you, your family and people of your town all the best. Stay
safe. Let us know when it all settles.

Hoping for the best for you and your neighbors Sahara. I've been evaced twice for fires and it isn't fun.

How about someone passing you up on the left side,, hitting the brakes as soon as they cut in front of you and then making a right turn a quarter mile down the road.

Thoughts and prayers are with you sir. The rescuing of the cats , tells me the type of man you are. Not being selfish in a situation like that, shows your heart and soul. Take care and I hope i all works out.

Last year the flood was totally unexpected. The part of town I live in (New Town) was created specifically so that it would be safe after the previous disastrous flood of 1963. When the evacuation happened in Old Town, I volunteered to take in cats. Looked after a few including one character named Smokie for a few months because some people had no homes to return to.
This year the fire happened fast. Started at around 10:00AM, town evacuated by midnight. We left with our three cats, picked up five on the way out. A bunch more (including Smokie) have trickled in. We have 12 or 15 right now.
Just trying to do something to take some stress off of people who are under a lot of stress. Many are living in their cars in parking lots right now.

Picture of me with Smokie sitting on my WannaBee. I’m taking my life in my hands putting my face that close to him. He is one tough mofo. He is an old, crabby Norwegian Forest cat. He will literally jump up six feet and swat birds from the air. I **** you not.

The money spent on junior dragsters. Sheesh!
I used to fret over buying my kids a good ball glove.

Trying to contact YouTube for a refund. I subscribe to YouTube Premium with an annual plan. A week ago I paid my yearly bill but they applied it to the wrong account. I spent hours searching the web and trying the different ways of canceling it. No dice so far. They don't have a contact number or email.

How about just trying to reason with the YT Wokesters when you challenge a decision they make against your account. :mob:

You know what really grinds my gears,is trying to get an appointment at the registry of motor vehicles! I am trying to register my new to me Challenger, and since covid, you can no longer walk in and register your car anymore, it used to be first come first served, now it is done by appointment only. I work right next to the registry headquarters, and there are no appointments available there for the next month and beyond! The only available appointments are at other locations a half hour or more away! They are going to fleece me on the sales tax and fee the living schit out of me and I can't even get violated where it's convenient for me to do so! Rant off!
exactly the reason I joined AAA - they have DMV services and there is never a line.

Probably get red X’d, but here goes,

The people that now are standing and waving hello at the exit ramps with children and signs stating “I’m an immigrant with children and homeless”

This was their plan?
And yes, I do try to help those less fortunate than us.
Not surprised. Around here in northern California San Jose at certain large intersections near freeway off-ramps, every week there's 4 people on opposing corners or walking down the middle of the street like they do at the border crossing from Mexico into the USA. Each of them is holding a sign with photos of children reading either "funeral - raising money to pay" or "cancer victim fundraiser". Now I have a big heart and give often to different causes, my own brother went through tough times the last year before he died of cancer, sometimes I give to people on the street and I also have friends of all nationalities, I've gone through the high expense of paying for a funeral twice - so I get it, but something just didn't feel right with these intersection pandhandlers. Turns out most of them on this corner are planted scammers working for some bigger boss. They had a news story on it. They put photos on there to tug at our heart strings. It's going on everywhere. Bastards. If you are legit and trying to better your life that's one thing - but do it the right way. Don't lie and scam us to get ahead.

The other big pet peeve that irks me weekly - leaf blowers.

What a bunch of noise and air pollution and spreading debris from one place to another. What irks me the most are the ones using it on the street or sidewalks never pick up what they blow out of the way. I often see them blow it from in front of their house or business onto the property of the house or business next door and across the street. WTF?? One time it happened to me at my old house. I went and got my broom as the guy was putting his blower back in the truck and swept it from in front of my yard where he had blown it to and back in front of the neighbor's yard he just cleaned up. He jumped out and said WTF? I told him WTF is right - sweep it up and bag it, don't dirty my yard. He grumbled but did what I asked. Can't believe he didn't slash my tires the next day, but for goodness sake - someone's got to stand up for what's right haha.
