What 'things' chaps your butt!?

Probably get red X’d, but here goes,

The people that now are standing and waving hello at the exit ramps with children and signs stating “I’m an immigrant with children and homeless”

This was their plan?
And yes, I do try to help those less fortunate than us.

Nothing wrong with getting red X’d if you believe in what you are saying. Everybody toeing the company line and saying the same thing is what “they” want, and there are many different “they”s.
Different opinions are good.

Yup, just started seeing this near me also. They stand at a intersection with 20 stores within a 1/8 of a mile with help wanted signs in the window.

I got so pissed at that damn thing and did just that. Now works like it should.

When my friend and I were on our way back from Texas last year, we stopped at a Dennys restaurant to get some breakfast. There was a woman with two kids in an old minivan with a sign looking for money. My friend jumped out of thr truck and was going to run over and give her a twenty. I stopped him and said I bet you that twenty that there's a guy laying down out of site in the minivan, he said no way that woman is on her own with two kids and I feel bad for her. I said I am telling you there's a dude hiding in the van and putting them out there to panhandle for him. So he walked up on the opposite side of the minivan and sure enough there was a dude laying down out of site in the van! I said, I see it all the time where I work, he couldn't believe it.

Today? Tires Plus chapped my butt. I brought a tire up for repair. They called me a half day later that because the tire is over 5 years old? It's their store policy that they cannot fix a simple nail puncture. But of course with their sales pitch for a $280 tire replacement. Took my tire back stating. "You might have have told me this first!" And you lost a customer.

Inflation, 8% my lily white ***, it's 20%+

Property/Home Owners insurance, of late has doubled
what was $1,200 annually for my $400k house (when purchased)
is now $1,600 with a $5,000 deductible, to not pay out my *** annually
when I didn't even have a deductible prior,
the new policie was going to be like $3,000
& I've had absolutely no claims since 1992-ish, 21 years they've got my cash...

it's legal extortion,
pay us for just in case something will happen to you
like the union strongarming bullshit, in the 1930s Detroit

Automotive insurance for full coverage for my
1999 Dakota SLT 4x4 with 60k miles, is like $800 annually now,
new estimate $1,200+ & all my **** is insured with AAA
we bundle several houses/properties & several cars trucks etc.
(for a truck on the market, worth probably $10k, I'd get screwed
I'd never sell it for that or ever be able to replace it for that either
)
it was like $500, with a $500 deductible, that's a no brainer
no claims on it ever either

Last time I even had any insurance claim,
(now my dad on the policies, is a different story)
It wasn't even my fault
I was in a wreck way back in 1999, on Hwy 16,
between Rancho Murieta & Sacramento
some douche not paying attention ran into the back of me,
stopped at a stop light,
in my 1997 Buick LeSabre 12k miles perfect, that I had just inherited from my granddad,
it was minor damage even then, I fixed it myself
bumper covers both front & back, paint etc., like $1,200

Also last one before that was like 1976 (?) I was in HS
I ran into someone, who short-stopped right in front of me,
guys trying to talk to girls
still deemed to be my fault, on the J-street cruise in Sacramento...
It fucked up my 68 Charger R/T front fenders & grill up bad
my insurance dbl'd then too, was like $160 annually, went to like $300...
I bought a whole 68 Charger for the front clip, for $300
the Camaro went away, it was towed-off on a hook
I still drove mine home 75+ miles

This. I work for the government and have to wear a safety vest. Unfortunately, they also give the same safety vests to the homeless so that they don’t get run over when they scurry around like rats day and night.
I paint for the government, mostly schools. I have to wear the safety vest as well as approved safety boots. You know, the ones with steel toes and arches and thick cleated soles. To paint a school where kids can go bare foot if they want to. Those thick cleated soles have wrecked my knees because they don’t flex when I am on my hands and knees cutting in baseboards, so my knees bend in strange ways instead, crippling me. You can buy approved “running shoe look alike“ safety shoes, but they are the same identical soles and toes and wreck my knees. My boss has given me permission to wear “lab shoes”, which are plastic toes, puncture resistant soles that flex and don’t wreck my knees but I have to carry my stupid boots in the van in case Occupational Health and Safety show up for an inspection. So they can cripple me by forcing me to wear footwear that is supposed to keep me from being crippled.
There is rumours that they will soon also make me wear a hard hat to paint school classrooms.
I retired earlier than I should have because I got tired of all the new BS rules and regs they were coming up with....
Even local news is pushing the agenda, I don't watch any of it anymore!
I know I can get the weather on my phone but I do watch some of the local news mainly to see what the weather is going to be but sometimes I'll watch certain stories....like in the last two days a car chase ended up with a cop hitting one house and the other car hitting another and something similar happened again today. It's like it's the new crap that's happening.
Ever try to put gas in a 69 Plymouth with the gas cap behind the license plate using one of these great inventions?
View attachment 1467064
The gas fill behind the license plate was one of the things that chapped my butt back then....also that stooopid way the glove box door opened. Who thought of that crap??? But still have a few of my old racing jugs from the 80's and still using them but usually with a funnel and hose attached. Stick it in the gas fill and tape it to the bumper or use a bungee cord.
That's kinda expensive....

How much was that kit?
Those damn tabs on the listerine mouth wash bottle. First thing I do is take my pocket knife and cut them off. View attachment 1467096
Keep the cap that's cut instead of throwing it away and cutting the new one....I hate those things too.

All the big box stores are that way now. 'Liability' issues these days plus new tires are getting where they suck again.

Much higher than that on lots of items....I'm seeing a lot of stuff that's now twice what it was.

I Own all the real-estate out right
& I still pay in perpetuity, about which works out to,
about $400+ a month on each, when all said & done
(I pay each of it/them, in 2 installments annually)
In 1% property taxes, on what the price was when purchased, under Prop 13 here...
That **** adds up to almost $5k a year per house

I'd be way worse if I had paid the taxes on what they'd sell for today

for life, that's BS

but some have it a lot worse in other states
& pay even way more in property taxes,
than I do, for way less value

still pisses me off
penalty for being a productive American & owning real-estate
or not living off the govt. dole

Armadillos in my yard.
Traffic signals that don't stay green long enough.
BFG radial tires (the belts).
10 mm sockets.

my #1 pet peeve is price gougers/hoarders

Have the attitude "my parts are worth their weight in gold
& your exact same part IF I was selling them, is rusty junk
not worth ****

I see it every damn day in listings
2-3 guys especially, you all know who/whom too

(nothing specific, just a trend I see, it's getting far worse)
whatever happened to ?
'pay it forward'
(I know some great guys really helped me out, gave me great deals,
when I was young
)
or help a fellow car guy/gal out
or some young guy/gal jsut getting into the hobby 'in the need'
but he/she doesn't have the $$$
some good karma
not gouging their ***
what ever happened to the sense of fellowship, for the betterment of the hobby
Greed, fucken' gougers/flippers

OK I'm done :BangHead:
