I really like my Sig P210 I bought a few years ago, it's a work of art and one of the most accurate 9mms ever made.
I've been a big Colt 1911 fan forever. My dad helped me buy a super early one made in 1912 when I was in college. It turned out it wasn't a great shooter though, loose as a goose, and the second time I took it to a range the extractor broke. He was a collector and some years later started bugging me that he wanted it. I finally relented and told him if he'd get me a newer target grade 1911 as a partial trade along with some cash, I'd go for that. He had a partial restoration done on it a few years before he passed away. And I inherited it back from his estate then. That original extractor that broke in 1982 had a brilliant blue finish, we repaired the gun with a surplus extractor from a later 1911, that has a parkerized finish. After my dad had it partially restored, I noticed that parkerized extractor is still installed in it. I have on my to-do list getting an extractor refinished with the correct blue surface to finish that job my dad did on it some years back.
I also ended up with a few other guns from his collection, most of the rest of which were sold at auction. The coolest one I ended up with was his 1893 Borschart, in its original case with all the accessories. We talk about drivers versus show cars in another thread, in the collector gun world that gun is one heck of a cool trailer queen. In the gun collecting world its equivalent to a concours hemi Charger.
For cheap plinking, I have a trusty bull barrel Ruger Mark II my late father gave me for Christmas around 40 years ago.
As you might gather, my interest in guns ties in with memories of my late father. I grew up going to guns shows with him. He specialized in early semi auto pistols. I was actually more enthralled with rifles.
