Starting to think about wheel selection for the 71 Charger project now that the 4 wheel disc conversion is in route! Originally I was leaning towards Billet Specialties Street Lites in 15x6 front and 15x8 rear. I already have some Pro Stars that I bought for the Dart. They are 15x5 and 15x7. However the 5 inch front wheel may look lost in the B-body wheel opening! So the last option is going with reproduction Rallye wheels. 15x7 all the way around.

Anyone have some 71-72 Charger pics with aftermarket wheels? Rallye wheel pics have been easy to find. Aftermarket wheel pics, on a 3 gen, is not so easy.

i like the Magnum 500's but, dont know if those would fit on a disc brake conversion.but, thats my 2 cents."Magnum500".the ones that have trim ring and center cap.WOW.those are hot,i myself one day will own a set.!God Bless Barry

17" Magnum with. 11" disks on all 4 corners. I think they look Awesome!

15" magnums will clear 11" brakes, but it is real close. You can only use a max of 5" back space on the rear or the bell of the rim hits the caliper on a Willwood 11".

Not a Charger but here are 15x7 all around with 235/60 and 255/60. I had these rally's sitting around awaiting a never ending Cuda project. If I had to choose new wheels for the 73 I'd go with 15x10 rear and 15x8 front in a convo pro. If you go rallys and want the same on front and rear go 15x8.

Probably going to end up putting the Pro Stars on and see how they look first. I had thought about the chrome Magnum 500's in 15x7 and 15x8 but decided against those. I love them on the pre-71 Chargers, but personally prefer rallye wheels on the 71 Chargers. Just have to hope the Pro Stars will clear the Wilwood kit.

Unless you want to see stock Mopar wheels...pics are hard to come by for the 71-72 Chargers.

I like the look of the Key-stone classics myself, hard choice anymore with so many ones to choose from. This picture from a old thread here..

I love them myself, But, in this case, this Charger being the color it is, they make it look better, that dark/chrome look just stands out perfect.. Noone seems to know whos car this is or was, but the only picture i had to show the Key stone wheels on a Charger. There is a site i think Propwash put in hear and i cant remember it that you can look at different rims on the cars we have to get an idea what they would look like, i don't know if it was any car or just certain cars, if he sees this im sure he would leave the site to help out, and you could try different wheels on the car and get a idea what they would all look like..

I went with Mopar Rallyes from Wheel Vintiques... very happy with them and the look. But the pics on this thread are bringing me around to liking aftermarket rims a lot more. That dark green Charger with the silver rims looks amazing.

I have a Wilwood 11 inch discs up front on a 71 GTX and can guarantee that 15 x 7 Rallyes will NOT fit my setup. Very close, but no go. The curve of the Ralley center just bites into the caliper.

Thanks. I was in hopes that someone, that has tried the combo, would chime in! What wheels are you running?

Yeah. You have to run a bolt on hub spacer to clear an 11" Willwood with a 15" Rally Wheel.

15x10 on the rear can only have a max of a 5" BS. Any more and the bell of the rim hits the caliper on an 11" Willwood disk setup.

I am running 15X8 mopar steelies and the clear the Wilwood calipers just fine.

Like Wookie said - you could make them fit with a spacer and longer studs. I did try a spacer that came with the Wilwoods and that wasn't enough. I can't remember what that size was.

Wonder if you can get a rallye wheel with the same backspacing?

The real problem is not the backspacing per se - but its the shape of the rallye wheel itself.

The the 'rim' portion of the steelie is essentially 'flat' from outside to the inside. This gives lots of space for the caliper. The 'hub' is again essentially flat so the iside of the steelie is big and square and open.

The ralley 'rim' is stepped up to meet the inward curve of the hub portion of hte rallye. And of course the ralley center curves in. The stepped up rim and the curved in 'hub' of the ralley all just make it very tight. Backspacing the rim might not alone solve it - since I think the 'hub' of the ralley needs to be moved away from the wilwood caliper to make enough room.

You have got me curoious to give it a second look - since I really was set on the ralleys working with the calipers. I was in a bit of a rush to get the car on the road this year, and when I found the steelies fit ( which I like anyway) it seemed like the way to go.

As long as you are not in a rush to make a choice, I could check this all out again and post more details of what is really going on with the rallyes and the calipers.
