Wheels....need to make up my mind

The shop has my front brakes installed. He is working on getting the power booster, master cylinder and lines all buttoned up. The rear kit will likely go on this week.

So it sounds like if I want to run Magnum 500's...15x8 rear and 15x7 front, that should work. Magnum 500's have probaby more, "flat surface" on the rear of the wheel, than any other wheel.

Yeah - I think they have a good chance of working for you. Do let me know if it works out - maybe I'll buy a set of magnums for mine too...

The car was a 4 wheel drum brake car. I wanted 4 wheel disc and most importantly, I wanted matching front and rear calipers. Originally I wanted to go with 11.75 rotors (not slotted or drilled) and Viper calipers. I never could find a true, "complete" parts list and the shop that is working on the car was to the point he need the brake kit.......so

I was asked if I would post a pic of the brakes on....sorry I don't have one just yet. The car is being reassembled about 350 miles away. Here is the last "update pic" that I took a few weeks ago.

Willwoods will not fit a Magnum 500 without a bolt on hub spacer on the steer axle. The rear axle is fine as long as the back space is 5" or less. A Magnum center is 2 1/4" where as the Willwood hub is almost 3", 74mm to be exact I believe? See the photos below.

1" universal hub spacer. I do not recommend this type of spacer. Get the 1 1/4" Trans Dapt 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" spacer instead. I have a pair coming for my own car. The Trans Dapt 4 1/2" spacer offsets the wheel studs evenly which works better for a 17" Year One cast Magnum or cast Rally setup. Reason being is there is recesses between the lug bolt holes on the back side of the Year One cast rims. So if you wheel stud sticks out slightly, it clears the back side of the rim just fine.

Here is the setup without the spacer.

The reason I could not get the 15" rally to fit on the front of my car had nothing to do with the Willwood brake or the hub. Rally centers are bigger 2 7/8" and clear a Willwood hub. It was to do with the RMS tubular front end. When you run this style front end, you can only use a 15" rim with 3 1/4" back space ore else it hits the tie rod end. So a 1" spacer gives you 4 1/4" so you can then run the 15X7 Rally or Magnum.

OK cool. I was just curious as whay you went that route, not flaming or anything like that. The car looks great love the color!

My '71 is no where near finished, nor will it be for a few years. Right now I'm putting it together so I can drive and enjoy it. Mine is originally a front disc car, but I brought home a Duster parts car that I parted, but kept the front spindles for my Charger. I also picked up a bunch of '77 Cordoba parts, including a 400/727 and a set of 11.75" front disc brakes both of which will be on/in my car very soon(I hope). A buddy of mine has a 9" rear with rear disc brakes which I soon hope to be picking up and placing under the back end of my car which will take care of a couple small issues. I want all the mechanicals taken care of before I have the body smoothed out and the cosmetics done.

I think I may put a post in the "brake forum" and see what wheels people are running with the Wilwoods. I really do not want to run a spacer at all if I can keep from it.

:headbang:do you remember what size meats and what back spacing you used for the rears that car looks killer old school DODGE DECAL ON THE REAR QUARTER NEVER HURT EITHER.....
