Here in Modesto the movie is shown every year during Graffiti Week at the State Theater... The Theater dates back a few years before 1962, back then it was called "The Strand Theater"

But after a fire it was closed down... Then bought & restored it reopened as The State Theater...

They run annual Star Wars Festivals complete with Darth Vader & Storm Troopers in the audience

Anything George Lucas was involved with will likely be played annually ... Just part of Modesto Heritage..

Love all the neon lights out front on these old theaters, takes me back to fun, exciting, simpler times , as a kid....

I graduated in '74. Best music ever, best parties, best cars, (mostly the used ones) best opportunities for job careers, buying a house and living the American Dream.

There used to be a Cruise in Car Show here in London, Ontario, on the Plunkett estate. Steve is our version of Jay Leno; very rich, very crazy about cars, and very likeable/approachable. He usually arranged to have car and '60's relatable guests show up at his annual show. George Barris and some of creations showed up, as well as the original Barman and Robin. He had some of the Dukes of Hazzard personalities come, and often Bo Hopkins, Candy Clark, and Cindy Williams from American Graffiti. There used to be 4-5,000 card show up at this weekend charity event. Steve did it for about 10 years. He still has a Thursday night Cruise in on his estate.
This was a stop we made on 2023's National De Soto Club meet. We had a private showing of his Cadillac collection and we stayed for a bit for his Thursday night Cruise In. Thanks Steve.

Still lived in Vallejo, CA when they were filming. I remember an ad in the paper looking for extras for the filming to include period correct cars. Bunch of us got together and drove down to where they were filming. Hwy Patrol and the local police had all the roads blocked off that evening during the filming. You had to prove you lived there to get in. Someone got in with a camero because for a split second in the film you could see it parked on the the street.

I was 9. Somewhere in Ohio..... Had my first bottle of beer when my cousins boyfriend took my sister and I to go see the movie.

If it makes you feel any younger I was born when some of you were graduating! Lol ... 75 year of bad performance, heavy rust and emissions crap.. was that the year of the first mustang 2? Lol

I was 20 in 73. Makes me 70 now. Jesus Chrysler! Married at 19. Total moron. Still am.
