Holley is for a non of the above options sorry should have been more clear

Whatever one works best with your combo.

Here's MY personal opinion.

The AFB and AVS (and their Edelcrap variants) I pitch in the garbage can.

I love a Thermoquad for a street car. They cannot be beat for mileage and performance on a mild to moderate engine. They can even be raced (ala Stock Eliminator).

The Holleys are great for really hot street/race cars. Great tunability and great power potential. Easily rebuilt. Mucho parts availablity.

Ok lets say it's for a moderate 440 and these are your only options.

And judging buy Rusty's recent TQ grab, i kinda figured he was partial to them.:headbang:

I ran a 750 Eddy and it was perfect and the only reason it's not on the car now is I'm trying out the 6 BBL.

Well put couldnt agree more

Ive always use Carter and Eddy for SB engines in my cars with great luck.. I had a 750 Holly if i remember right on a 383 and it worked great.. And i do have to agree with above poster, If you know how to tune them, there all good. I can tune my Eddys and Carters pretty good but seem to do nothing but go the wrong way if i try a Holly. There,s a local guy here that can do things to a Quadrajet to make them work in an unreal way, and i know all about the quadrajunk theory but ive had some dandy working ones..

Every carb out there will eventually get a bad rap from someone, run what you're happy with, one size doesn't fit all !:thinker:

The one you already own.

I mostly agree with the a I've except;

The OE carter and Edelbrock carbs (which are listed as replacement. Carbs with being High Performance able) can only be so flexable. Unless you modify them yourself with adjustable air bleeds for example, the carb can only handle so much

This also applies to OE Holley carbs. The basic Holley sold is not the most adjustable or tuneable carb. But there better than the Carter style/brand in being adjustable/tuneable.

The upper level (AKA Expensive) Holley and the after market modifiers or company that copy them put in features that are out of this world and able to handle super big whooping cams unlike the above carbs.

The TQ is my fav if a good working unit can be employed. They are Excelent for the street/street strip ride.

If the car is track bound and a bit on the hairy side, a Holley should be up top. Unless rules state otherwise.

My two cents

I ran Holleys on several Mopars. When they worked, they were good, but I had so many problems with them, leaking, back firing, you name it I'll never have one again.

850 Demon. No stumble or leaks ever. Good performance.

i love my holleys. i do have a 1406 on a 318 and it runs very decent.
