Cranky...I've been with Direct TV for many years and yes they can be pricey!!! That being said, I choose to stay with them because I am a huge Baseball fan...Die Hard Cubs fan also...and get their MLB game package every year to watch just about every single game of theirs when not on a national broadcast like ESPN and such. I usually pay twice a month to reduce the monthly payment so I can budget it out and that works for me. The one thing I do every 12 months in November, is call the 800 number and when I get to their Philippine call center, I have them transfer me to a customer loyalty rep which transfers me back to the US and an American and request their annual loyalty discount which saves me 50.00 bucks every month for a full year. Yes, I do spend a lot for their service but they are the only satellite company that will give me the baseball package as the others only have a limited deal and it isn't as good as Direct's. I won't disclose how much I spend as it is my choice but for a year's worth of viewing, it keeps this ol' guy happy and besides if I can afford it at this point then why not? I've just not grabbed onto the streaming gig as it isn't at all what I really like and want. Try my tip on the customer loyalty rep transfer and see if you can get a discount as it is only just a one-time annual call to save a pretty good chunk off your bill. Oh..and one last thing...look into these as I have them throughout the house and in the garage shop and have good speeds and such...cr8crshr/Bill

We have optimum but this Friday l discovered we had lost some channels that carry news by nexstar media. Also MSM, News Max are gone.

This a common issue with streaming and cables services. They cannot agree to a contract and drop the channel. One of the reasons I dropped You-Tube TV other than getting local TV from an antenna is they dropped the MLB channel.

I got rid of Comcast/Xfinity around two years ago. Rip-Off artists! Went with T-Mobil 5G internet for $50.00/month
and YouTube T.V. for $83.00/month now with just recent price hike and Roku streaming with the remote. The ROKU
cost me $30.00 to buy and no extra because I didn't buy any extras. I have nice T.V. antenna in my attic for all of my
local Chicago channels. CBS,NBC,ABC, etc. I can't get HULU with T-Mobil because the I.P. Address keeps changing, but
I get a ton of stuff for $135.00/month! Comcast can SUCK MY %#*!

Oh, I almost forgot. I sold all of my Comcast stock!

Seems like I tried that once some time back (calling for the customer loyalty) and got refused. I'll give it a shot....it worked with Xfinity until it didn't.....and I hate to have to relearn a new system.

We ditched cable a few years ago. Our TV isn't a smart TV so we bought the Roku thingy for $25. Not a big fan of sports so we subscribe to Philo (~ $25/month) so we can watch the History Channel, Discovery Channel, MeTv etc.

I’ve got internet and sling , also have an antenna and that gets a lot of local channels
My modem is in the bedroom because that was the closest way to bring it into the house
Have a tv out back in my shop with a fire stick and get sling out there , works pretty good
We stay in our motor home in Utah in the summer when it’s 110 plus and run the tv off the neighbors WiFi
I was surprised at how far I can get tv

X1 (Comcast) do a lot of stuff on the TV watching different stuff
on many 100+ free apps 'they offer' with my bundle
(dad's technologically challenged otherwise, he needs cable )
so I don't have to view on a lil' prisoners (cell) phone or small computer screen,
& none of which I have to actually pay for either, included in the subscription
or I won't & don't even care to even watch freaken' crooks...

The TV in our basement is an older LG "dumb" TV, and we do not have cable to it. I operated it with one of those cheater android boxes, but now hardly anyone supports it. I bought a FireStick for it, and this has turned it into a "smart" TV, complete with voice command. Best $35.00 I have spent in awhile.

I’ve tried a lot of the streaming solutions but before I throw out what I like what is it you want to watch? Network TV like ABC/NBC etc? Any cable channels you want? Do you want a DVR?

I will say while I like Sling, AirTV to have a DVR for broadcast tv was terrible and it only works with Sling so I moved to Tablo.

One of our free channels is currently playing the NFL play-off games. Not much of a delay from when the games were played either.

Back in the old days of two channels, a film cannister had to be sent by airmail to our country to get the latest content for playing over the air.

Who has time for TV?

Aprox 2 years now we dropped local cable, we had some kind of premium package that cost near $150 each month.
Our verizon phone bill was at $100 and we both had older phones, Dropped them and went with T mobile.
2 new galaxy S23 phones unlimited data and their internet tower/modem.
$130 per month including taxs, T mobile pays our Net Flix service and Apple TV service.
We have a couple Roku TVs and down loaded all the free apps we needed , Pluto, You Tube, Classic Movie channel ,
I installed a $60 roof top antenna for all our local channels.
$130 a month now for phones and streaming TV.

Been sorta looking at FUBO or Sling. Will most likely have to up my internet speed too? My modem is on one end of the house so will have to use some sort of a repeater or amplifier? I don't know beans about streaming TV shows etc but want to get away from Direct TV real soon. Their freaking prices have gone through the roof! Also have a TV out in the shop that's probably around 75 feet from my modem...

All of my tv's run through pcs to monitors/screens from 6' to 10' wide.. I use KODI (free program) with addons like Umbrella which allow me to watch any movie/tv show made in 4k/surround.. and a addon called "daddylive" which streams all sporting events and fights..

I have never paid for tv.. it kills me the money that people just throw away.


P.S. if you are going to stream, it's worth running a ethernet cable.. wifi is always the worst option.
