Who all streams TV and who do you use?

All of my tv's run through pcs to monitors/screens from 6' to 10' wide.. I use KODI (free program) with addons like Umbrella which allow me to watch any movie/tv show made in 4k/surround.. and a addon called "daddylive" which streams all sporting events and fights..

I have never paid for tv.. it kills me the money that people just throw away.

P.S. if you are going to stream, it's worth running a ethernet cable.. wifi is always the worst option.
Yeah....wifi wouldn't make it to the shop for my laptop out there to run and the TV is also hooked up to a cable. That is one of my concerns....everyone I know here that streams has freezups etc etc etc and I don't want to deal with that mess.

Well... they do sell ethernet cables with ends already on.. just need to run it :) I stream everything without buffering/glitches... but it all depends on the setup

I run an Ethernet cable out to my garage and use a Linksys access point to broadcast WiFi in the garage.
Wall-to-Wall. Phone works with WiFi calling and T.V. works just like it was in the house. Laptop works
fine too. The access point plugs into the wall and the Ethernet cable plugs into it also.

Where I live in Southwestern Ontario, our service provider is a small private company called Eastlink, with kinda poor cable TV choices. Rogers and Bell, who serve nearby communities, won't come near us. I have a bundle package that includes landline telephone, long distance calls, internet, cable TV, for about $190Can per month. I keep the cable, so I can have local news. If I mess with any part of the bundle, I think the cost will go up. The real bad news is, if I need service, I have to call to headquarters in Nova Scotia, hundreds of miles away.
Last summer, I had the Wi-Fi box fail, so I called for service from Eastlink, and they said they could not get a serviceman out to look at it for 3 weeks. I asked if he was walking all the way from Nova Scotia to Ontario! The girl on the other end of the line did not think that was funny. I explained that I did all my banking over the Internet, and that I needed to pay my bills soon. The cable company still has a local service facility that is closed to the public in our local town. I drove into town and hung around the parking lot until a service truck pulled in. I explained my problem to the driver, and gave him my failed Wi-Fi box. He agreed that 3 weeks sounded like a very long wait for service. He was out to my place by the end of the afternoon with a replacement box and got me fixed up.
The new TV we bought has Google streaming embedded in it with available apps, so we use that a lot.

I've shared this link in other threads on the same topic. He's been going for about 10 years and has all the information and answers concerning how to cut the cable service and valuable advice on which services are best depending on what you like to watch.

I always look for promos on streaming services for cheap and cancel before the next billing cycle after I've watched the movies and TV series I signed up to watch. Also many services allow you to pause instead of canceling.

BTW, if there's only 1 or 2 devices streaming simultaneously, you can get by with 5 to 10 MB download speed.

Ethernet cable connection always trumps wifi but nowadays it's not necessary with a good wifi router and every device within range. Unless, you're in an area with lots of interference.

I use wifi for almost everything and don't have many probs, none with the TV really, just with some of the security cams that use wifi. Anyway if you haven't already you can just use your phone to test the signal strength to the area you think will be an issue.
I do have one TV at the corner of the house opposite from the cable modem that is wired, but that was needed more with the modem I had like 8 years ago. I just got a really long LAN cable that already had ends and started routing it.

no subscriptions except Prime through my Amazon acct, free everything else, youtube, tubi, pluto etc, smart tv with apps installed, and more to download, pirate from solar, torrents

Roku. Lots of free stuff, no fees for using Roku. Roku also has access to everything else pay channels if you want to pay. The only thing ROKU doesn’t offer is Amazon Prime. You can watch everything you want on ROKU and control what, if anything, you pay for.

When I grew up in LA in the 70/80/90s we only had broadcast TV and about 10 channels, there is so much to choose from now just with the free stuff that I can end up looking forever at the menu without actually deciding on what to watch.

Have one run out to the shop now that I ran well over 10 years ago.
