Who else has a garage dog?

My guard dog Friday.

I have what would be considered an everywhere dog. Everywhere I go, she wants to go to. Out in the garage, out in the yard, off to the beach for a walk and a swim, although she’s 15 now and doesn’t swim, she just walks in and gets her tummy wet. She was a rescue dog, and she’s been the best dog a family could have. She goes camping, out to the farmhouse, and she loves going to Nanas for family gatherings.

This picture is a couple years old, the German Shedder in the picture is no longer with us (we've since rescued another). The other dog , a boxer mix is still here and as stubborn as ever:D

Yes first year, I love that bike, big power and just goes and goes. Mostly fire roads and to work sometimes. Do you have one?
Runner is a customer car I am working on.
Mia is my helper.
Had a 90 350 and a 95 650 bitd; sorta looking for another 650. Actually, looking for the money for one...
As for dogs... here is my monster - not a garage dog [yet] as she doesnt mind worth a flip and sticks her nose into/mouth on everything... but she is sweet as pie.

My Garage is hot as Hell in the summer 'southern exposure'
floor it is too hot
he likes the front deck in the shade better
or the garage floor is cold as F--k, in the winter
he doesn't like the cold floor in the winter either

I can't believe I have none of Elvis in the garage...
when he's out front, I keep him on a 20' rope
keeps him safe, he doesn't usually go anywhere
but a bunch of people drive 'way to fast' up the hill infront
or
people jogging or walking dogs up & down all the time
he wants to go greet everyone, he usually stops at the property line
but some people get scared & I don't want him in the street
so I have him tethered, as to not bother them
certain people, stop & come over to pet him, always

late at night when the door is shut, not too hot or cold
he's in there, usually sleeping under "His Truck/Dakota"

he really like the deck or the back yard & back deck better

in the office, his birthday June 3rd turned 8

Speaking of the Australian Cattle Dog, here's my newest adoption helping me with a fuel vapor return line -

This little puppy girl had been through a few families. Her last home was with an elderly woman in government housing, who couldn't keep her because the pup was a bit too big. I took the dog temporarily so the woman wouldn't get evicted, but after half a day I decided to adopt her. Blue Heelers are too difficult for most people to keep one. This puppy was headed to a shelter and near certain death. Maybe someone would have given her another try, but a vet's assistant once told me nearly all shelter dogs get put down. I think she had little chance of getting a "forever home." Her behavior has gotten to be pretty good by Blue Heeler standards, but she's still be a very high energy menace to society that never ever gets tired.

Totally agree. You'll find as she gets
older, that they truly come into what
they were born and bred for.
Their intelligence level is over the top,
their pinpoint focus unmatched.
They're a working dog, and will
literally die to complete their
appointed tasks. She'll latch on
to her chosen one.
They love everything you do, and learn
routines very quickly. They enjoy
close physical contact with their
favorite.
I've had many companions of
different breeds, but I have to say
Trip fits very well into our current
lifestyle.

Unfortunately I'm far from the ideal owner for a Blue Heeler, but I'm the only one she was going to get. At least she has other dogs to play with.

My buddy had a Blue Heeler from puppy to the grave. She was a great dog, loved activities as well, and had to go everywhere. He is a Mopar guy as well, and she spent countless hours out on the garage floor, waiting for any action to start so she could quell the uprising. The postman and FedEx guy never stood a chance! Great breed of dog, but I happen to think they’re all pretty great!

I wish I could take her everywhere, but there's no place for her on the factory floor. I don't get to spend much awake time with her at all, maybe three or four hours a day. It's no life for a Blue Heeler but she's alive.

I have a shop cat. If we could have a dog I would have one but we are knee deep in cats and it can be hard adding a dog to the mix. It definitely takes the right dog to make it work. We fostered one years ago. It was an elderly dog named Boots, owned by an old person who died. We looked after her until she got adopted. She was a real sweetheart that got along with our cats just fine. We regret not keeping her and still miss her.
My shop cat Gary hangs out with me, and loves the time with me. We have two others, and have owned as many as five and looked after as many as fifteen during our various disasters. Gary doesn’t like other cats and would much prefer it if she were an only cat. So her and I hang out in the shop. Whether I’m working on my WannaBee or reloading ammo or talking on my ham radio she just plops down beside me and purrs and sleeps without having to worry about other cats.

My dogs aren’t obedient enough to hang in the garage with me, with the garage open. I have neighbor cats that come and hang. My daughter likes to capture them.

We came very close to having to do the unthinkable very recently with Sasha, our 15 year old
Cairn Terrier - her health had gotten that bad and she was pretty much giving up.
This after treatment and consultation with supposedly the best vet in the region, too.
I had already resolved it in my mind. It was that close...

Then a chance meeting one morning when she was at work with my wife happened, when
the local vet happened into her business. Next thing she knows, he's on the floor with Sasha,
checking her over (he's elderly, so that's no small feat for him).
He suggests a couple meds and to "not give up on her yet"....so we didn't.
I'm happy to report Sasha is doing much better, short of hearing loss - she's got some of her
moxie back and things are almost normal again.
What a blessing.
Sasha passed away this evening. Wife and I are crushed...
Goodbye, my girlie-girl.
