Anyone have a collie or sheltie?

Three Lab mixes, 2 are brother and sister of 6 we rescued, I adopted out the other 4 and followed up, they're all doing great. #3 is my "Street Hound" Laney, my wife found as a puppy trying to cross 3 lanes of Tulane Ave. in downtown New Orleans. She just happened to get called into work that day, and just so happened to come across her on the way home. She brought her home suggesting we could adopt her out...One hour later I had named her and announced "She isn't going anywhere!"
Tony and Laney, enjoying "Christmas presents" this year:

Tony's sister Bitty, having fun with another dog Christmas present:

Can't help myself. All 3 "marveling" in the mysterious white material in South Louisiana collected on my car trailer:

And they all get along with Susannah Elizabeth Pig, "Sue E" for short. She's full grown at about 30 pounds. Loves to eat and snuggle:

How bout a picture of your 'vert.

Your comment reminded me of something my great uncle taught me...
"Never date a girl with a horse."
You'll always be second place and she'll always need cash to feed the bastard..
He was/is right, I married one... Never seen as big a rat hole to pour your money down as Horses.....

Joe, i know its not the same dog but my grandma had a wired hair terrier. Was a female and grandma got her as a adult dog. She had bite a couple of people and she actually almost died of injuries she sustained when she dove through a french glass door pane trying to get at the paper boy who use to taunt her
The thing is this, i was a toddler and use to go after her, she never growled or nipped/bite me. She would just walk away if i annoyed her and go to my grandma. She was so I'm told very good and calm with me as a very young child.

WFT they are called now. Wire fox Terrier... A WFT named Asta was used on the movies and show, The thin man. And this show was way before my time...LOL
I think MOST dogs who are raised with kids seem to be pretty good with em.. There are some exceptions as with all things.. My great danes were never mean, but they always had there eyes on the kids.. One stopped a van from backing over my oldest when he was young. Crawled behind the vehicle and we didn't see it.. My 160 pound dane stood behind the van barking with his head around the drivers side and would not let the driver back up... Would not have believed it if I had not seen it with my own eyes.
Another Dane ( ex and I had lots of them ) grabbed the basketball coach by the arm ( gently) and pulled him away when the dog thought the coach was being to rough playing one on one in my driveway.. That dane was 3 months old when she started sleeping in my sons bed.... They were tight...
Dogs are amazing creatures and I am always saddened when I hear about someone who had to grow up without one....

I dont have a dog but my three kids all have dogs. My aunt never had children but she always had dogs. She had a poodle who was like a family member, extremely intelligent animal. She also had two male doberman's. Each one was extremely well behaved. A friend has a large male whom i found to be a excellent dog and very graceful for a animal that size.

I grew up with a champion Doberman Pinscher. Count Von Blizruud, named after the Blizruud kennels where my grandfather bought him. Amazing athleticism. Loyal to our immediate family only. If you weren't in "the circle of trust" and encountered 100 pounds of Count, you were in a world of ****!

My aunts Dobies were docile, they were breed as show dogs. A woman up the street has two Dobbies she also shows and I've encountered her as she walked her two dogs and i never felt threatened. My friends doberman is very friendly and after a short while he'd lay his head in my lap wanting to be petted. My friend did tell me alone he is protective of the home. My uncle had the dog in his car resting in the back seat. My uncle was at a distance and saw a guy reach into the car to rob some sun gasses. The thief never saw the dog but the dog saw him and bite him on the arm LOL. Im not a dog person i admit but do like animals

Many years ago one of my customers ( I think it was in Medford OR) had a dobie story... Owners came home to there front window shattered and when they walked into the house there was blood everywhere.. Their VERY large dobie was sitting on the couch just happy to see them..
After the cops came it was figured out that the perp was in the house before the dog woke up.... The bloody handprints on the walls were of someone trying to escape and the shattered front window was from someone jumping from the inside of the house outside, to get away.... The cops said the amount of blood in the house was so much they were surprised the perp hadn't lost consciousness...
Good doggy in my book....
