Cats

And now they switched positions.Lol

We’ve had several cats. They were pretty easy to teach to stay off the counters. Usually involved a cat tree and scolding when they attempted it. Cats are intensely loyal to “the one “ person that it trusts most. Current cat was rescued from a feral colony of some idiot who let them breed uncontrollably. She has a bit of a prickly personality so we nick-named her “PSK” . The P is for Pretty, the K is for Kitty, and the S rhymes. She’s mellowing out over time, she’s about 3 now. I amazed at how intelligent she is. Our yellow lab would love to play chase with her, and she knows it, but she has a definite safe boundary.

Took our dog Cora to the vet to have her dew claws removed. She was wacked on pain killers for about a day. At one point in her stoned state she decided that she wanted to be loved, like RIGHT NOW! So she staggers over to me and flops herself down, nearly squashing Chika, the Mexican cat who was not amused.
Chika has been like a nurse to Cora, constantly checking on her. The other day Cora had flopped on me and I was playing dog bongos on her. Chika gave a loud shriek and ran over, thinking I was harming Cora.

Here is the latest stray I fixed, "Jane" for Jane Doe. At first she was angry that I had her in the garage to recover, now I open it and she steps out for a few mins and then runs back in to her bed. I may be stuck with her, I thought she would want to go back to being a stray who just comes by for food but I guess she is smarter than that.

Well this is one of the suckiest parts of having animals. Groot was born late 2017 or thereabouts in one of my project cars, was always a little off and even the vet agreed its possible for a cat to be born with mental disabilities. Dude never learned to not **** on the floor, but would pee in the litter box. Go figure.
About a year ago he stopped eating and vets could not find a real cause, but with some meds and nursing he started to eat again. He never regained all his weight but had a pretty good year since then, but he started dropping weight again. Long story short he was weak and wobbly so I took him to the Vet ER and basically his body started making growths inside, on his liver etc. There was no reversing it and the vet felt he was likely miserable so you can guess the next steps. Sad story but he had a pretty good life, he outlived the rest of his litter and I managed to buy him an extra year and gave him love even when I would start the day by cleaning the floor. RIP Groot! (He shouldn't be on the counter either)

Good on ya for saving one. It’s f@cking hard to let them go.
Right now I am in Mexico, in a gated community full of entitled white people that generally own those annoying, inbred yappy little dogs that just annoy the **** out of most people. They hate the feral cats and will mess with them if they can. I am the opposite…
Four years ago a beautiful mother gave birth to a litter in my garden. When we returned on the next trip she was gone, as were her babies. Two years ago one of those babies moved into my garden and gave birth.
Last Christmas she had more babies living in my garden. Last week she gave birth again, and her mother chased her out and moved into the garden with four babies. I feed and love the little mom who is tiny and stops by a few times a day to eat.
Anyway, where I’m going with this is this: you made their life better for a while. That’s more than they would have had otherwise. They felt and were loved. We can’t save them all but we save what we can.

The mom cat in one of the pics looks like two twin neighborhood cats I feed everyday. One is super sweet and wants to engage with me and the other wants food but will scratch me if I try to pet her. I was able to catch and fix the nicer of the two.
I think I've seen your posts about the cats in that area before, and yeah I feel like cats like that are on borrowed time and all we can do is give them a period of kindness and security.

We inherited my wife's grandparent's cat Muffin as we bought their house as they had both passed a few years earlier and as we were getting married and the house was empty.

Growing up l never had a pet but as my grandparents lived down the street from us and they had a poodle that l would play with.

My dad bought a cocker spaniel when l was 17 but like most of us it was up all night, sleep all day, so l never really got attached.

16 years ago we got 2 kittens (Fluffy & Trixie) from the same litter as both of our boys who were in grade school at the time wanted pets and as my wife had cats as a little girl she knew about them. Dogs were out of the question as they are much more work than cats.

Sadly back in October we had to put them down due to health issues on the same day. Absolutely broke our hearts.

We had Fluffy and Trixie since they were kittens. Trixie was attached to me from the start and she always knew if something was bothering me she'd be on my lap or at night curl up by my head. We joked that she was my therapy/emotional support cat, but she really was.

Last Saturday we happily adopted 2 kittens from a local cat rescue organization.

Shanti is the black and Dolly is the tiger.

It's so great to have them in our lives, the house had an empty feeling without Fluffy and Trixie.

There is something to be said about the unconditional love of one of God's animals.

I don't have a very high opinion of cats.

Dogs have owners/friends.....cats have slaves.

I identify as an ALF when it comes to cats, and I'm not Chinese, even though a restaurant in London once thought I was when I made a booking over the phone.

My cats are some of my best friends. They greet me when I get home, go for walks with me, and hang out in the garage when I’m working. I don’t drink or do drugs my cats are what relaxes me

I don't drink or do drugs either, but maybe I should!

I don't feel too relaxed by the cats around here, but it may be more because of the volume of cats. I do feel pretty satisfied tho, either because some scared animal is less scared and fed or in the more extreme cases a sickly one is now much healthier.
