I'll tell my story after replies from others.
God placed me at the at the right place
and time.

Not sure I'd call this saving a life.....

After a big parade downtown the streets were crowded and traffic was backed up.
There was a car on the train tracks and a train was coming.
I could see the driver was starting to panic.
I ran to the car in front of them and banged on the window to get the driver's attention and without using words because it was too loud and the window was up- motioned at the train, the crossing gates and the car behind them, and pointed to a clear area between the stopped oncoming traffic and the crossing gate.
They figured it out and moved up just in time for the car on the tracks to pull forward.

Believe it or not, I got indirectly threatened afterwards by a group of teenage black girls (I guess) because the driver of the front car was black and I guess they didn't like the urgency of my actions.

YY1, thanks for the reply. The event that
promted my post is powerful and has
stayed with me for 50 years. From your
depiction, I do believe lives were saved.

Long story short, I checked on a guy at a party after his friends carried him to a room; he was laying on his back choking on his own vomit.

I guess I did once. Was at a party when I was in my teens. Lots of drinking. One guy was passed out, laying on his back. He vomited and was choking on it. I rolled him over so he could expel the puke and start breathing again. He didn't even wake up until later. So, my "hero" story ain't really very glamorous.....

Saved a little girl who had gone under the water and was drifting toward the deep end of a public pool. She was definitely in trouble, her young-ish mom was distracted and inattentive. I was the lifeguard on duty so was just doing my job. I'm sure somebody else would have realized sooner or later but maybe too late? Glad I was there.

Lots of stories as I used to work in a hospital.

I have used CPR more than anyone should ever have to.

Saved a young toddler at a public pool who fell in and the parents were on the opposite side of the fence. Lifeguard didn't see the kid fall in or know the kid was there.

Pulled a driver out of a vehicle that rolled over and caught fire. I waited for the police and told them what happened and then left.

Actually, a few times. Once, a "less-drunk" me ran down a steep hill that my wasted buddy was incontrollably rolling right into highway traffic. We were walking together, when suddenly he lost his balance and footing, and started rolling like a flailing tumbleweed down into a highway road. I managed to grab him to the ground before reaching the road. Another time, I was driving on a Brooklyn two-way single-lane street, when I noticed a car rolling slowly in the opposite direction. As I looked over, the driver was slumped on the steering wheel, and the car was ready to roll into pedestrians on the sidewalk. In a nanosecond, I stopped my car, jumped out, ran over to that car and pulled the column lever into park. This was in summer, his car window was opened fortunately. I yelled for someone to go call police (this was in 70's), I left the drunk slumped over, threw the keys on the floor.

I heard a commotion in my front yard, and ran to see what was going on. My 75y.o. next door neighbor was being attacked by my across-the-street neighbors two pit bull mixes, in my driveway.
I ran back in the house, got my 38, and killed the dog that had my neighbor by the throat. The other backed off.
My neighbor was hospitalized, but recovered.
Southern California was in the midst of a bunch of dog attacks at the time, so it was covered by LA Times, the local paper, and the four news organizations that sent helicopters.
Too bad that I never got my 38 back. I had bought it from a friend and it wasn't registered in my name.

My older brother saved my life twice; first time I was around 5 years old, and another was around 12. He was a great mechanic later changed career's becoming a cop.

Life puts you where you need to be and I am glad I was there to help.
He (God) puts us where we need to be at times - it's why we're here on the planet, after all.
He's done so with me several times and I've written "Ed stories" about a few of the more memorable ones
right here on FBBO.
A fella feels pretty dang good after heeding the call, eh?

Nope, I saved the girl and God gave me the chiggers. So, He was killing the girl and I interfered and he gave me the plague of itching. Or perhaps, you have done so few "good" things in your life that you can only accept that someone else would have to force you to do something right. Maybe God put me there because he knew putting you there would be a total waste of time. You are a loser with no self motivation to do anything good of your own free will. Happiness is just an "ignore" away and now I am happy.
Your right.. And up till now I've never put anyone on ignore because I'm man enough to ignore without a button... But after an asshole statement like that you've become my first...

Not sure where all that ad hominem personal attack came from - mine was complimentary by comparison, after all?
Tell ya what, though....
Not only is your sorry *** now on my blocked list, but I'll say a prayer you straighten up before you're called, too.
Way to go, trashing what was to be a wonderful thread on here!

Came upon an crash of a Mustang, car was across the road so blocking it. Kids running dazed one guy in back seat had a broken leg couldn't leave car. Guy coming from the other direction pulled over to the side of the road and turned lights off, no flashers,WTF! A few seconds later I hear a car going through the gears coming in our direction but not visible yet. I ran up the road toward the on coming car. As soon as I saw his lights I was jumping and waving my arms. He saw me and got off the gas and stopped.
A couple of days later at my part time job a guy I worked with my bother in law ,Tom said thanks. I asked what for you kept him from running into that crashed car. He lived up the road and was rushing home until he saw you. Cops were there a minute later and I left. Hard to say for sure I saved the guy with the busted leg or the other people but like to think so.

WTF was that all about ?

I have not actually saved a life like a superman. However, I have given good advice to people that if they do that stupid crap that they intend to do, that they could die! I don't know if they ever took heed of my words or not, I never saw them there afterwards! Not much of a story I know!

Whoa, dude!
Where'd that come from?
Fanatical stalker?
Saving a life is the single most selfless
act one can perform. This post is certainly
not a debate on religious beliefs.
