Meanwhile, back in 1783, the Montgolfier brothers managed the first manned flight of a balloon. Earlier trials had sent smaller balloons aloft, including tests carrying animals. They even had a sponsor - a wallpaper manufacturer was working with them, supplying materials and being responsible for the somewhat ornate design.

Arrive to work 0300Hrs (Oh-Dark-thirty)
Load up the Telemetry Van, drive to 22R EOR (End of the Runway)
Power up the F-22 (2 of them, my team mate is in His TM Van)
Sunrise across the Mojave Desert, simply gorgeous!
Coyotes off in the distant...
Flowing data...to Ridley
Pilots arrive, power up the F-22s
F-16D 2 seater arrives, "Chase" plus Photog)
All systems GO
F-22s take off 0700Hrs...
F-16 chases, lights afterburner to "tag along"
Big KC-135 "R-model" Tanker with 195K aboard sleepily lumbers down the runway knowing the "Fast guys" will be slowing down over Mt. Whitney in 25 min to take on fuel....
My day is almost over!
