Yes, watching the weight of paint is among critical calculation for the fact of weight it self. But what You said about thick material impeding heat disappation is accurate observation......hell, over abundant material thickness is a pain in bodywork & refinishing for that very reason, can't shed heat fast enough & warpage, distortion can occur.For Jimi- I remember a story of USAF planes being weighed before&after a repaint to make sure the paint was not too thick. Any truth to that?(too thick wouldn't transfer heat as good?)
