In 1981 while stationed at Castle AFB, CA a Vulcan landed and stayed for the Museum.
Awesome flyover!
Yup, it certainly has a very loud dB rating...It Screamed!
I saw one perform at an Airshow at Biggin Hill in Kent, England. An amazing experience that lives with me to this day. I'll try and translate my video to YouTube and share it here. The way that aircraft just leaves the runway at near 45 degrees and then banks was just amazing to watch. The noise..... :bananadance::bananadance::bananadance:

I was going through Boom school when it came in, that was a very cool to witness that!

Dad talked to a WWll fighter pilot. He had flown both a Mustang and a Thunderbolt. He said if you wanted your picture taken to send back to your girl, you stood by a P-51. If you wanted to GET home, you flew a Thunderbolt. Both are great aircraft, but that liquid cooled Merlin couldn't take the damage a Radial could and keep going. One hole in the cooling system and it was silk time.

Don Gentile and John Godfrey. They were a great team. Godfrey (and Gentile) both survived the war. Gentile died while testing a jet (like Dick Bong) and Godfrey died of Lou Gehrig's.

The WWII German technology was decades ahead of the rest of the world. Had Hitler used their technology for peaceful purposes, they would have been an economic powerhouse.

Did you know the main mode of transportation of the German ground forces was the horse and wagon? If the US wasn't run by the progressives we just might have gotten our arsenal up a running before the fascists did much damage. They were just like obummer was with military cuts.

Smithsonian Air&Space IS the crown jewel!!

I see allll kinds of war birds and commercial types in over 300 pages..
There seems to be a lack of GA type or RC type aircraft...
Anyone have interest in either of those?
