IIRC the Chinese and others used the Swastika centuries ago but it was reversed.
It symbolized good luck. It was also used in many religions as a symbol of divinity and spirituality. Next time you are in a Chinese (can I say that) restaurant look at the decorations. You will see them.
I think I read somewhere the Germans angled the Swastika to symbolize it rolling, as in rolling over their enemies.
It has been used all throughout Europe and Asia through the centuries.
