Entering the world competition for short/medium haul narrow bodies, the MC-21 is due to enter scheduled service next year.
Built by Irkut (a part of United Aircraft Corporation from Russia) the prototypes have been flying since 2017. About ten feet longer than a Boeing Max 8, these aircraft have a lot of advanced metallurgy and carbon-fiber construction. Passengers will enjoy a 6,000 foot cabin pressure, the company promises better fuel and operating costs compared to Boeing and Airbus competition. Engines are a choice between Pratt&Whitney 1400G and Russia's own Aviadviagtel PD-14 - both offering similar performance. 175 orders on the books to start, with 150 more listed as possible sales.
