First ones where B-26's but some govern body said we couldn't give bombers to SE Asia that's when it was given the A for attack.
They were called A-26 when they entered WWII in 1943, the designation changed to B-26 from 1948 to 1965. When they entered SE Asia service in Thailand in 1960, they were B-26. It was switched back to A-26 in 1966 and continued with National Guard service until retirement in 1972.
