I used to live across the highway from St. Thomas Municipal Airport in southern Ontario, where they occasionally had airshows. I was outside one day, and could hear a lot of noise, that I thought was coming down the highway. It turns out the source of the noise was a Corsair buzzing the airport at about 50 feet, at likely 300 m.p.h. I will never forget that sound!
