That Breda BA88 was spectacular both in its high speed as a prototype, and in its complete failure as an operating unit once it got weighed down with armor, weapons and bombs. Underpowered and useless, the Italian airforce ended up parking them beside runways as decoys.

It looks like it was jet powered, but it had a motor-jet, a piston engine up front driving the compressor, so no rear turbines were used. Who Likes Aircraft ?
