Who Likes Aircraft ?

In my mind there is nothing that tops a WW2 aircraft. Sheer beauty, real power, an engine sound second to nothing. I flew in the Commemorative Air Forces' B-17 a couple years ago (thanks to a birthday gift from my wonderful wife). What a total thrill. The sounds, the smell, the excitement -- can't compare it to anything else. As it happens, the same aircraft, "Sentimental Journey", was in our nearby city last weekend. We live on an acreage 20 minutes from the airport, and as I was outside doing yard work, the plane flew right over me, undoubtedly taking more lucky folks for a ride. Brought tears to my eyes. Such a gorgeous craft with the bright sun shining off the aluminum skin. Absolutely nothing like it.

I started flying at 16 years old and received my pilots license when I 18. Flew small planes into my 20's but work and family got in the way and I stopped flying as a hobby. I always enjoy a good air show. Here is a photo I have had in my computer for years. Thought it fit with this thread. I don't remember the details, so don't ask. This was a long time ago.

Reminds me of this scene ..........

One of the funniest movies of all time! Every successful comedian of the time (early '60's) was in this one. It must have been a blast to be on the set of making this! Memorable performances by Jonathon Winters, Mickey Rooney, Buddy Hackett. Unfortunately, they are all gone now. Newer so-called comedians not near as good.

Jonathan Winters was my all time favorite. He shined in that movie, the girl's bicycle scene and the gas station destruction were classics.

And when him and Robin Williams were together is was fantastic
