Who Likes Aircraft ?

Turkey (okay, Republic of Türkiye) is developing a fifth generation stealth fighter to replace their F-16 Fighting Falcons. Developed in country by Turkish Aerospace Industries, the twin engined mach 1.8 fighter is expected to enter service around 2025.

Named the TAI TF Kaan, it uses two General Electric F110-GE-100 turbofan engines, similar to that already used in the F-16.

Usually, the four jet engines were shut down. They were useful for getting heavy loads off the ground, then cruise to target on just the six piston engines as the turbines were fuel thirsty. The jets would be fired up again for a higher speed dash over the target and escape route.
