As opposed to the supreme runaround I am getting right now from Air Canada (Air Incompetent?) trying to get home from Edmonton.

I am a pilot, so I really hate what commercial aviation has degenerated to.

After that, the designs sort of stagnated.

Going from four engines to 2 engines, achieving ETOPS was no small feat.

Supercritical wing sections were challenging too.

I'm sure there were great leaps and bounds between 1950 and 1960 too, but at least it looked like you were getting a newer airplane every few years.

Recently took a trip to Europe which consisted of 5 flights all together. I was surprised how at least for this one trip, Boeing just doesn’t seem to be much of a player in the airlines any more. I believe we had one flight on an Embraer commuter jet and the other 4 were all on Airbus models.
