My dad in Korea before he came home. Because he was in WWII also he didn't start out driving a dozer he was a grunt like most. Got transferred to the field artillery unit after he had been there a year.

The real story here is the white jet plane in the background. It is an experimental Canadian DeHaviland Arrow. Tests showed it was the highest performing fighter in the world at its time. The project was mysteriously stopped and all produced fighters were scrapped.

Oh, I know all about that AVRO Arrow. I have over a dozen books on it (including the pilot's flight manual) and the engine which was being tested on the pod in the foreground B-47.

You are right about AVRO (A.V. Roe). I was thinking when I writing DeHavilland, that it did not sound right. 76-year-old mush brain! Thanks for posting and the correction.
