I have done automobile interiors for well over forty years, so I have been around before most of the reproduction places started making covers. At the start of their production pui were made better than they are today. Their most recent covers I installed were made very inferior to the original covers I replaced. The thickness of the vinyl and the foam padding was much thinner, the listing around the perimeter has a flimsy fiber insert sewn into it as dose the actual listing that hog rings into the seat bolsters ( these are suppose to have actual wire to hold the seams strait). When the fiber filled ones are fastened to the seat cushions they cause a dimple to show at every place a hog ring is installed (looks crappy to a pro). Also all the press pleated seats that are heat sealed instead of being sewn turn loose in the southern sunlight. I have other issues with them not included here as well. The quality of vinyl is determined by the actual weight of the fabric per yard (54 inches wide x 36 inches long in the trim industry is normally the way fabric is sold). I normally have to replace the listings on all the covers supplied to me by my customers that supply me with pui covers, me repairing them voids the guarantee but they look and fit much better after the repair. Unfortunately when I have to modify the covers I have to charge for the repairs so the cost increase would off set the price of the better quality covers to start with. I'd buy the good covers if I planed to keep my car. Same thing applies to convertible tops as well, used car special verses a quality top. I refuse to install the cheaper tops on any bodies car because I feel like it is a waste of both time and money to install inferior products on any classic or collectable rides. If you value your car and your money buy the best covers you can get for your money. Sorry this is so long but I am giving you this information from my own personal experiences.
