and doesn't eat meat on good friday/
I do but my wife who is Catholic, doesnt believe in it. She says its an old ritual which has been broken a long time ago and that the new generation doesn't follow the rule anymore.
What's your take on this religious day?

Honestly, i personally just think what the day is all about. Thats it, no real special "thing" we do here. Or not do. Important day for me it is,

We observe the Lent and Good Friday. I'm Catholic and my wife is Methodist.

Ron.... You are right, we all need to think about what this day is all about.

I consider myself a recovering Catholic but my wife still practices and 2 of my 3 kids attend Catholic grade school so it's still in my face. So I don't observe lent and I never understood the concept " Jesus was crucified for me, so I'll give up cheetos for a week and we'll call it even" And where the hell do bunnys and eggs have to do with the death and resurection of the Messiah? I'll stop now.

Me and my wife are both Catholic, and we do observe lent, no meat especially on Good Friday.

I haven't had meat in 49 days. I'm Russian Orthodox and I do my best to observe lent. We can't have dairy either during lent and let me tell you that's a tough one. What's tougher yet is trying not to judge.

I believe that the rules were made a couple of thousand years ago and it's up to us to follow them. I'd like to say I'm doing good but the reality is I'm not even close.

I had my last filet of fish sandwich for lunch yesterday. Now it's on to the Easter ham pie and Easter bunny chocolates
Have a Happy Easter everyone.

My wife and I are Roman Catholic and do our best to observe Lent. We get ashes on ash weds. and don't eat meat on fridays. There is a tradition in the Polish section of Buffalo (where I grew up) where you visit seven churches on Holy Thursday. We have been doing that the last few years, does that happen anywhere else??
Like said above- we try to be mindful of what these days are all about.

what the heck is Tilapia?

It's freshwater fish! its farm raised and probably imo the best tasting pleasant fish you can eat.

Ok then in my old country boy fashion, i went fishin got me a mess of crappie and blue grill and filled my gut! We call them pond fish here, New York calls that "Tilapia" ok, another good reason i live so far back in the woods it scares town people, my beard i thought did it! thanks for explaining pan fish SSR.... Didn't know

Chalk up another recovering Catholic here. I had all that stuff crammed down my throat as a kid, too, (couple of years in Catholic school) and was told if you didn't do this or that, it was a sin. And now its not a sin? Did God change his mind and not tell me? LOL I have my own personal relationship with God. I don't need Man's silly interpretations as to what and how to celebrate. I think Jesse Ventura was on to something when he said ORGANIZED religeon was for weak minded people.
One more note and I'll shut up, Imagine how many more people would be alive today if they had not been killed in the name of someone elses God.

ONE more quick thing Mr. S-S R.....
IT may be your opinion The best tasting fish BUT i have to, going by lots of experience with the crappie, blue gill and sun fish have to agree, I would not and ive had both trade the pan fish we call it, a skillet full of fried up goodies for a lobster.. JUST my opinion agreeing with yours, GOOD STUFF for sure... Finally its really in the low 70's here and the sun-shining, all the making of another strong storm im sure but will enjoy none the less, Hope all has a Happy Easter day what ever you eat not eat! Ron..
