So the exhaust routing (underside) is different from a 440???? I would have thought that once it turned along the bottom it would be the same width...???...

Generally, the RB and B engines use the same headers. Since the B block is narrower, this leaves the header flanges closer together.

yes and if you have a 727 there is a good chance that the collector may touch the trans pan using 440 headers on a b engine.
