Why wasn’t a factory performance hood offered?

I think the Charger hood is perfect as is. The Sixpack scoop is one of my favorite on a B Body. On my Challenger I stretched the hood opening, base and scoop 3" longer, raised the bubble 4-1/2" and opened up the nostrils 2-1/2" taller. It is definitely functional. To clear all of this.

I think another very important reason that hasn’t been pointed out is that with any kind of a hood scoop, the Duke Boys wouldn’t have been able to do that iconic jump-slide across the hood to quickly get to the passenger side of the car.
