Why we lose interest

Plain and simple for me MONEY. Never loose interest, but cash goes fast.

Lots of time & little to no money or visa versa...
Not matter how much you do yourself,
it's still costs $$$, I'm fine with that too...
Do what I can with what I have always have always will,
but never any lack of interest, always thinking about something...

I put jobs off due to fear of downtime. Sound of the Big Block ultimate motivation.

Luckily, I've never lost interest in mine, just put more important stuff ahead of it.

I'll post pix at a later date when I actually have something to contribute. Just want to get a feel of the site for the time being. I'm another one of those DC.com migrants with a 69 on my green card. I'm no dreamer, just buying time to get a better product in the end.

Agreed
I don't like my car not being able to be driven or moved
on it's own power, I now try to plan all builds around
"how long will it be not usable", I don't like it not running/driving
or how many times {?}
I will have to move it around or jack it up & down, to do stuff :screwy:
I have a little garage 20' x 20', on bigger projects
I have to move my truck or the car out, put the car/truck in the center,
so I like to get stuff done easier, so the truck/car doesn't have to spend
too much time outside or the car is down, un-drivable on it's own too long...

It's very easy to be 'alone' in this hobby. Wife, kids, friends etc all move on and give up on you as you struggle to find motivation to continue. Eventually you cave and give up because no one else in your life cares either.
Enter: the internet.

Finally, a place where you can find others going thru similar situations and get the support and influence that is much needed and appreciated. Let's face it, your wife could care less, your kids have moved on and most of your friends spend their time avoiding you.

Money, to a point hasn't been an issue for me. Zero dollars are used from my job. All money comes from side work. Fortunately race winnings have supplemented my side work. I'm cheap. I build my own parts. Use 90% used stuff. Buy new when necessary. Learn to do all your own labor. Or trade your labor. If there's a will, there's a way.

True words. Don't care. I'm stoked and ready for April. Roadtrip. Van Nuys. Vegas.

My interest/motivation to have and drive a muscle car started as I got my license to drive. At that time there were many fantasies.
I was fortunate to scam a dealer into selling me a 69 383 Bee when we all knew I could not afford it. --That boosted my interest.
I really wanted a Hemi 4sp and found one in 1980.(coronet RT Hemi 4sp). That car held my interest in a big way for 38 years. Most of those years were living my life to pay for life -and my future - the car I really liked just sat waiting for me.
In the meantime, other cars came and went because of timing and opportunities.

When I finally got my dream car running it was a bit of a letdown. By that I mean that -had I got it on the road early on I think I would have enjoyed the car more than I do today. I did enjoy the road of fixing it (a big part of this hobby) but the fresh enthusiasm from "the day" does not stay fresh just like we all change with time.

This is a good thread topic that could be a heads up for the young with a passion. If your car sits waiting for later--when later comes it may not be what you think or hope for.

I consider myself fortunate in that I got my car done before I could not get it done.

Many that look for projects of their dreams will find another's dream that never made it past a dream.

Lost interest is just one of many reasons we might find something (that we may very well lose interest in ourselves) that another cannot. This is a hobby and hobbies are to -play with- when we can find the time.
